Basic cable commercials are out of control

For Christmas I got a DVD recorder with a hard drive. This makes it easier to record something and edit out the commercials before burning it to disc.

I don't have much occasion to record stuff from the garden variety cable channels but Sunday was the TV Land awards. So I recorded the awards and the half hour post show. Two hours of air time.

So I went in and struck out the commercials and there is 81 minutes left, less than 90 minutes of the 2 hours.

Wow!

Unfortunately that sounds about right these days, especially for an awards show.
