Who remembers these from early grade school? They pass out the order forms and you could pick and choose what books to buy.I always bought the Charlie Brown and Snoopy paper backs.

Sure I remember do they still do this for the kids? Im totally outta touch when it comes to these things these days
I don't know if they still do them or not.If so they are probably just buying downloads.I was going through some old books and found my Peanuts paperbacks and thats what reminded me of them.
Yeah they still do it. My son brings a form home like once a month but the books are cheaper on Amazon so why bother. Every year in March one of the Malls by me does something called "Friends of The Library" where the libraries sell off all their old unwanted books and DVD's. That always reminded be of the Book Fair.
"Many Shubs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Sloar that day I can tell you."
My daughter brings home the forms, and while I'm all over her reading, the prices in these are ridiculous. When we got them (granted the books were chiselled on rocks!) I can remember being told $1.50 was too much...now they are 45-10 each or more. I thought the Scholastic line was inexpensive printings of children's books, but now it's the full publisher price. We skip it and pick up books at library sales & used book stores.
Heck yea I remember these, they were awesome!
I remember the order forms were made of this super flimsy paper that was barely stronger than tissue paper. I definitely bought my share of choose your own adventure, sticker sheets, posters, etc, but my Mom would only let me get one of these types per order, the rest had to be "real books". She was no sucker. I'm glad for it though as this program was really what started my love of reading.
Too bad they have gotten pricey since they always used to be pretty decent and have deals as well if you bought enough like a free book or something. Believe it or not I've still got some of those books kicking around from the third grade or whatever it was lol.

I'll tell you why bother doing book orders over Amazon: The book fairs were totally exciting! I remember waiting in line to get my order and being totally psyched. It's like why go out to the movie theater when you can just watch it on netflix for cheaper .
Our kid's school still does it. There are expensive things, but there are also books in the affordable range ($3 for example). To them it is a thrill to go to their school and purchase something all by themselves.
