Anyone looking forward to the NFL draft next week besides me? There really is no drama being a Redskins fan. The Colts have already said they are taking Andrew Luck and we have said we're taking RGIII. When the announcement was first made that we traded with the Rams; everyone was complaining that we gave up too much...nobody knew what or who RGIII is a QB. I have personally been a big Luck and RGIII fan before anything was even announced. Most of my Redskins friends thought it was a stupid move to trade so much for him, but after seeing tapes of him which have been played extensively here....we are all on the bandwagon. A lot of my Redskins friends are hosting "draft parties" just to watch him get drafted. It is the craziest frenzy I have ever seen in my lifetime as a Redskins fan. Anyone else getting excited?

as much NFL as I watch ...., I never watch the Draft ...., and have only ever really watched a handful of college games.... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.

I'll check it out, just to watch Luck get announced for my Colts. I think he has all the tools to be the next superstar QB, I just hope the Colts can surround him with enough talent to help him progress and stay healthy! The Skins should be very happy with RGIII. He'll be a major star as well. After those two it's a crap shoot......Comment

I like the draft for an hour or so. I try to time it so I can turn it back just when the Packers pick but I always screw it up.sigpic

The days when I get excited about the NFL draft are sadly long gone; once they moved the 1st round to prime time on Thurday night, with rounds 2-3 on Friday, I lost interest. If they ever return to the old format of starting at noon on Saturday and running 2 days, I might become interested again. It's just too stretched out, IMO.
Of course, with the Raiders having no picks until the end of Round 3 (#95, a compensatory pick), it's easy to lose interest!Comment

I'll flip to the draft now & then to catch up, but I can't sit there and WATCH the draft. It's just too long between picks.
RE: RGIII - I'm expecting him to be good, but the 'skins gave up too much IMO...and it's not even the loss of future draft picks that bothers me - it's the additional pressure that his draft cost will add. If Luck does OK and the Colts win 6 or 7 games, fans will give him a pass. Kind of like the Cam Newton situation. If it takes those guys a few years to reach the playoffs, again, I think fans will still support them if they're showing improvement.
Unfortunately, I don't think RGIII will have that kind of situation; I'm thinking more like Ricky Williams with the Saints. I hope not, because that's not fair to the player, but I have to think that fans & Dan Snyder will have an attitude of, "C'mon, already, and win some playoff games. We gave up all of these picks for you!" Of course that will be more difficult without 1st round picks in 2013 & 2014, plus a #2 overall QB contract against the cap.Comment

Outside of opening day, this is my favorite day for the NFL. Not sure why but I'm totally immersed in the speculation and surprise picks, always have been.
Luck will be very, very good. It's hard to predict the future, but he has all the tools. THis situation has to remind you of 98 with Manning and Leaf. It took till last year for them to put up the same numbers. He's said to have sneaky athleticism. I have that too, just can't see it at all. Call it stealth.
Griffin will also be very, very good. THey may have traded away too much, though. Snyder does like shiny objects. Let's hope this Redskin deal works out better than the Manhattan for beads trade of 1626.
The Browns appear poised to make a run at next year's no. 1 pick. Last year was suck for Luck. Will this be fall flat for Matt?
I'm actually off on Thursday, so I'll get to watch. Awesome.
The Falcons are looking to draft players that fit their system. They're looking for guys who play competitively during the season and then collapse in the playoffs.I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.
If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.Comment

Ah, yes - the Eagles have been successfully running that system for years. The key is to build scapegoats into the organization/roster, so nobody important loses his job.Comment
