    Ever unknowingly have something valuable?

Just curious if anybody has any stories regarding having anything (doesn't have to be toys) valuable for a length of time only to discover that it's worth more than you knew about.

I dabble in 80's toys, nothing too serious, just stuff I pick up in the wild. They're pretty far from my main focus and I rarely can name all the characters in any series. Today I bought a Thundercats Jaga figure for a buck, and when looking him up realized that the Bengali figure I have is also pretty desirable and htf (i assume).

Another example would be some Monster in my Pocket figures I had tucked in with other monstrous creatures on a shelf, found out that they were cereal premiums and went for some pretty decent prices.

anybody ever just have something kicking around that turned out to be more than you thought it was?

I found a lot of Thundercats figures on Craigslist. It was the first ones I bought. The lot had 15 or so figures all in the nice acrylic frames. The guy wanted $25 for the lot. I only bought them becuase I thought they were cool and reminded me of my childhood toys. After I got home and looked up the figures, they were all complete, mint condition. in the lot was Bengali, Jaga and Lynx-O. I had ZERO prior knowledge of the figures worth and again, only bought them because I liked them. needless to say, I was FLOORED to see how much they were worth. The collection could have easily sold for $300 plus.

I sold what I thought was just a "junk clearing sale" of a 1980s Hewlett Packard calculator on eBay and it went for over $300.

I once bought the collection of a former Kenner Canada employee, a huge garbage bag of sample SW figures and various toy samples he picked up during the 1970s and 80s.

Train cars, barbies, diecast, nothing looked too spectacular and he kicked it in.

Turns out that stuff was worth more than the Star Wars collection, I broke even on the SW stuff and make another 2500 on his "junk" which did include a MOC Bobby Orr doll.

I used to own a '77 Trans Am in the 90's

I never realized it would later become a huge car for collectors

Wish I sold it for more than $1200 bucks back then
