I can finally start to talk about something I have been working on for the last few months.
A large comic/gaming store was foreclosed on in my area.
Over 600 long boxes of comics
Over 300 statues
Thousands of action figures
Shelves full of gaming singles, supplies, rpg and board games
much more.
Basically.....a lot of schtuff.
Anyway, I had called his bank immediately and started the "bidding" process. My partner and I will start emptying the store this weekend.
I honestly don't know what all I will find. Literally piles of stuff not touched in over 15 years. I am not expecting anything too serious, but I will not be shocked to find a hidden gem or two.
I am planning on opening up another store in October. In the meantime, lots of sorting to do. LOL. I will try to keep this thread updated with pictures.sigpic****WANT LIST-----WANT LIST***

If it was just one state over I wouldnt mind just for the heck of it. (You would probably even give some "gifts" for doing it.)
Im guessing this place was one of the casualties of the '90s speculation market. Tons and Tons of comicshops went out of business in the late '90s because of it.
Theres probably some awesome comic backstock in there.Comment

Do you have an existing store you are moving the inventory to? Or are you sorting on site? If you don't mind me asking, what was the ballpark area of your bid on this business? I am supposing that the shop went under and a bank repo'd the assets in order to reclaim their loan.
Looks like a mess of stuff. Should be fun. Good luck with it and I hope your investment pans out well for you.Comment

again, I wish you success with your endeavors. It looks a bit taxing, but in a fun sort of way. Most of us around here like sorting through stuff looking for treasure, and the percentages sound pretty good for being able to turn some profit out of the deal.
Thanks for answering my questions. It is a rough fact of life that business is business and one needs to keep the flow. And this is a good reminder to those of us that shop at brick and mortar that the fellow behind the counter has a lot of ducks on the line. Best of luck with your new store as well. It sounds as if you will be well stocked.Comment

I have had my store for over 10 years now. I also rented a building to sort the items in. I will be opening a new location by October. I am planning on 4,000 sqaure feet. Today I moved 300 long boxes of the comics and countless boxes of action figures and statues. Still at least 60% yet to do. The estimation of the inventory is approximately $250,000 based on the sheer volume. The guy who owned it had some personal issues that basically destroyed a very successfull business. I bought the inventory from the bank for $27,000.00.Comment

A big thanks to both of these guys for coming and helping me out yesterday! I truly appreciated the help. Overall I had 16 people loading the truck from 9am to 3pm. Fun day!!

I am pretty pleased. As I am digging in, I am realizing just how much stuff is there. We loaded a 27' truck yesterday and countless car trunks. Just a fun day.
More silver age comics than I figured. Nothing earth shattering, just a lot of volume. Best book so far is a Fantastic Four #49 in a 6.0.Comment
