I just noticed bottled water has an expiration date
I have a feeling companies put these dates on so people will throw it out and buy more.
I'm thinking the expiration date on bottled water has nothing to do with the water but the bottle. Maybe over time, the cap might not have as tight of a seal and contaminants could be exposed to the water? Also other factors like storing in heated areas for a long time or direct sunlight for too long could also make it contaminated.

All companies that produce consumables must, by federal law, have an expiration date on it. Since bottled water is a consumable the company must put a expiration date on it.
Also some water becomes impure due to plastic melting or substances released into the water by the plastic.
We bought rock salt in a "grinder" bottle. "Handy bottle" I thought, "let's refill it."
Nope, glued together. Written on the label: "Sealed to ensure freshness".
And below that: Expires 24/8/2015
Grrrr... sealed to ensure you buy another expensive grinder bottle.
When I was a lad, it was all about saving the earth, recycling and biodegradable packaging. Now we're supposed to save the environment, reduce emissions and nobody cares how much plastic we put into the ground.
