Mac Question. Is it ok to empty your cache folder?

A question for mac heads. I own a Macbook Pro. Is it ok to bin the contents of your cache folder or is there some files I should keep?

I was going to say last time I had a Mac I emptied more than my cache folder.

Yes, I empty it often. Are you talking manually epmtying it or using the clear cache button in the browser prefs?

You're talking about the cache in your web browser (safari, firefox, explorer) or the cache folders your system and programs use?

Emptying your browser cache is good - the others should probably be left unless you know what you're doing I suspect.

I'm not talking about the cache in the browser (perhaps the same thing?). I mean the one in username/library/caches folder.

you can empty out the cache folders. If there is any data that needs to be there, they will be rebuilt as they are used. Depends on the cache, but you can definitely get back some HD real estate and sometimes even get a little speed boost for whatever program the cache serves.
