    Trends in Japan

Pepsi NEX, the zero-calorie cola taking on Coke’s Zero offering, is now doing a collaboration with MediCom and their Be@rbrick line.

"The collaboration is also with 20th Century Fox, with each figure (12 total) modeled on one of Fox’s movies or TV shows, ranging from Fight Club to Prison Break. Each one comes with a clasp, making them perfect candidates for cell phone straps. Some of the pieces are pretty tame (The Day After Tomorrow?), but several are quite cool, especially the ones for Predator, Die Hard, and Planet of the Apes."

    Thought this was interesting.

I'm not a big fan of Be@rbricks (I prefer the normal Kubricks) but the movie tie-ins make these kind of cool to me (I have a couple KILL BILL Be@rbricks). Will these be giveaways included with cans or bottles of Pepsi NEX? If so, I think I'll get my sister-in-law to start buying some pop over there for me.

Yes, I know. I hate these. More crap for landfills.

Medicom already makes Disney Kubrick figures, but I'm not sure if they've ever made any Disney Be@rbricks. You're right, that would seem to make a better match.

While with the Kubricks, Medicom goes for a cutesy action figure look, the approach of Be@rbricks seem to be more along the lines of an objet d'art (whether they succeed or fail would depend on one's tastes I suppose. Most of them don't do anything for me)
