Last weekend I decided to try and make some money instead of spending it. My area always sucked when it came to having one. I've attempted it for a couple of years in a row and one weekend I made less than $50. This time? I pulled in over $100 before I even fully set up and $300 by noon. The best part is the amount of space I have now.
I used to hate American Pickers, Pawn Stars, etc....I LOVE them now. Most if not all the people who showed up were amateur pickers and eBay sellers. It was so funny watching them trying to play stupid, thinking they were pullin' one over on me. I of course didn't put out anything good, stupid like the tons of Darth Vader carrying cases I've accumulated over the years (didn't sell any of those, unfortunately). Stuff like a vinyl Star Wars carrying case with no trays, no handle and beat to hell. A Snake Mountain that didn't even work.
BUT, it's also a bummer. To amuse myself, I searched for my own stuff on eBay and found most of it. It's sad to see people selling junk for high prices and downplaying the condition of the stuff.
Like this for example:
eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices
"some rust" and they neglect to show the inside, which looks like a nightmare.
It made me realize how ruthless and uncaring some are. Stuff that I didn't feel was good enough or worth my time to list on eBay are now being listed by other people....maybe I am too anal retentive or have a too high of a standard for my own good? People are bidding on the stuff!!
Sold this to them for $1.00 (I paid .25 last summer). I saw they were only selling on eBay for under $10 in some cases:
♥ 1948 VINTAGE MARX DESIGN-ALL DECORATING MACHINE TOY GAME WITH ORIGINAL BOX ♥ | eBay
It's from the 60s, not the 1948!
This was one of the things the first people who showed up put in their massive pile (this couple must of bought half of what I had). I didn't list it on eBay, because I figured nobody would want something SO RUSTY. The entire inside is TOTAL RUST and corroded I think even. I figured if I put it up, it wouldn't be worth my time due to the condition.
One guy bought a ton of LP's for a buck each and now they are in his eBay store with $40 price tags on them.
