    KISS/Motley Crue Summer Tour

This announced with a presentation from both bands. KISS has some slight alterations to their costumes. The same outfits but highlighted with some nods to the Dynasty era in places. Gene's armor has horns. Paul has some of his Dynasty feathers and silver/silk vest. Tommy has the most convoluted mess I have ever seen. His shoulder pads now slightly resemble the top of Ace's outfit from Dynasty, then switch over to the Destroyer era as it goes down. And they added Ace's wrist cuffs from Love Gun. It's just essentially a big mess. Eric is little changed with a few accents here and there. KISS will headline the whole tour. Here's the press conference:

OMG Tom you just made my entire year. I just watched the press conference and that was an awesome 20 minutes. My first concert when i was 11 years old in 1982 was Motley. I had an uncle who was older and helped corrupt me with music. I have seen Motley 35 times in all over my lifetime. Right now in my cars cd player is disc one of live Motley from a few years ago. Only band i have seen more is the Grateful Dead at 38 times. I swear i about ****ed my pants when i saw this thread. This is going to be an amazing show. These 2 put on the best concerts. Hell one of them is worth the money, and now we get to see both on the same stage. Can't tell I'm excited huh? So cool to hear them both talk about how they respect each other. OMG i have more texts to send out. I am so freakin happy right now.

Thanks for the heads up. I watched the whole thing and I gotta say the people who set that up really need some lessons in hype building. Sure this was a for the press only event but man it seemed so drab. No one seemed to really care. And George Lopez should have a fact checker.

Still I would love to see the original Crue back together again. And I'm not being mean when I say this but I hope that Mick survives it all. He's looking rough but I really appreciate his "I don't care" attitude when it comes to fighting through his health issues.

I do agree Tom, Tommy Thayer's outfit is pretty crappy. I'm glad they decided to draw a bigger line between him and Ace but there's something missing. I think its the boots. The lack of silver gives them the "trunk less Superman" look.

Saw KISS when they hit Key Arena in Seattle a few years back. While I love KISS and they were my first ever concert I just can't handle Tommy and Eric. I guess I just miss the original line-up.

I do agree. Tommy is little more than a session player. He can not play Ace's licks to save his life. But Paul makes it worth while for me. Mix Motley in there and you've got a great combo.

ticket prices are too high for me.
Was gonna take a family of four, but for decent, floor seats in the outdoor theater, it was $780.
Move back to four seats waaaaaay back, and we got to $400+.
Not sure moving further waaaaay back will save me much.

I really want to go...can't justify the cost...not to mention gas to drive just under 3 hours one way.

GOnna have to talk to the family and see just how bad they want to go...maybe just the wife and I go.

I hadn't checked the prices but that seems about average these days. I also figured that's why Paul was talking up the fact that both bands would be working hard for an audience and indeed earning their money. That's one thing I would believe to be an absolute fact, both groups are indeed excellent showmen and entertainers despite their ages. Sure Mick can't move but then again he never did.

I don't think some people give Tommy enough credit. I also don't think people realize Tommy has worked on Kiss albums going all the way back to Hot in the Shade and even though Ace is on the cover of Psycho Circus it was actually Tommy (except for two songs) who played lead guitar on that album. Yep, even though Ace is in the Psycho Circus music video, that's actually Tommy on guitar.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

True, I just think Tommy will forever be ridiculed because of the decision to use Ace's make up. Regardless of who is the better guitar player / entertainer IMO the loyalty to Ace will always make it tough on Tommy. Sort of like a Re-Mego Captain Kirk will always be second fiddle to the original even if the quality of the materials is actually better and the sculpting is more accurate etc...

While I'm an Ace fan I do feel for Tommy (and Eric) for that matter but I also applaud them for taking on the burden if for nothing else the next generation of fans.

Great team up!. I enjoyed the CON tour with Motley Crue as openers, and look forward to seeing them paired up again as double headliners. At least with this double header, we don't have to hear the sneers about KISS being an opening act like we did when KISS & Aerosmith paired up (cool event). Motley Crue will perform first and KISS will follow.

In general, I find the updated outfits to be lazy & messy. Paul's looks too busy & over accessorized, Gene's is too rehashed & massive, poor Tommy, and Eric...meh.

While I did sort of get a "Dynasty" vibe from the added spikes to Gene's outfit, I got more of an "Alive" vibe from Paul's feathers. I don't really recall him having any feathers at all on his Dynasty wears although I do recall him having feathers on his Unmasked duds (all around the neckline, lapels & cuffs...similar to the Black Diamond robes). But the shoulder pieces he sports now really remind me of what he wore during the DTK era (Cadillac High, Promos for R&R All Nite & C'mon & Love Me, and the Alive! photo sessions).

Lots of dates mentioned for special appearances, promos, mini-golf events, Family Jewels episodes & merchandise....yet not a single update about the new album!

Is that Bill Oddie from The Goodies in the Peter Chris makeup?

I was a huge KISS fan back in the day but, really guys, give it up. They've always worn more makeup than Joan Rivers but for the last ten years you've been able to see Joan Rivers under the Paul Stanley mask.

I'm sure they still sound awesome (well... like KISS anyway) and from a distance (a good distance) you could probably pretend it's 1978. But for Gods' sake, save your money and don't buy front row tickets. Someone might spring a gusset or spit out their falsies.

If the price is right i'd be in the front row in a heartbeat.
