    Yellow Submarine Blu Ray...coming soon

To all the Beatlheads here on the museum, or to all the kids out there that love this film, Yellow Submarine will be re-issued May 29th here in the states. Newly re-mastered for Blu Ray. Here's the on line article:

The Beatles' Yellow Submarine Feature Film Restored for May Release on DVD and... -- LONDON, March 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --

Can't wait to see how they re-stored the film....also all the extra's that they are putting in the DVD. I wonder if the Disney/Pixar version will ever see the light of day....or have they just given up on it?
"When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
    The beauty that surrounds them
    Isn't it a pity".

    - "Isn't It A Pity"

Awesome news, I hope they did a really good job in restoring it, and in mixing the 5.1 DTS audio track. Sounds like it will be a nice package too.

I thought the remake wasn't happening now, but it would be great if Disney/Pixar changed their minds.

Damn..the DVD used to be a bit of a rarity. Should have sold it when it was.

Read it this morning and was happy to finally get in on BR. They put some love into this classic movie.

"Due to the delicate nature of the hand-drawn original artwork, no automated software was used in the digital clean-up of the film’s restored photochemical elements. This was all done by hand, frame by frame."

          As for the Disney/pixar/Zemeckis release:
"Following the abysmal opening of Disney’s Robert Zemeckis-produced 3D motion-capture-animated Mars Needs Moms this past weekend, the studio has killed Zemeckis’ planned 3D motion-capture remake of Yellow Submarine. "

I agree, that maybe they might revive it with new mo-cap tech that ISN'T creepy. Regardless, I would love to see a more 3D version of this movie in 7.1 surround.
