Never saw the movie before. If it comes to my area I will definitely make an effort to see it. I love sad endings.

While my feelings aren't this hardcore , I do agree with the overall sentiment. I have a strong dislike for Dion and that song. The movie was okay and I'd watch it on tv if there was nothing else on, but I wouldn't pay to see it again.

Here's a thought... Take your Itunes and play AC/DC's Highway to H*ll while DiCaprio is sinking in the blue murky water.

          That is an amazing idea!

Honestly - in the back of my head I keep thinking I'm going to catch it on TV or borrow a DVD or something someday - but I just never get around to it.

Maybe I feel like I'm suppose to see it, or something - and that makes it more like work than entertainment. I don't know exactly what it is. I just can't get excited about watching that movie, it just doesn't look like it's 'for me'. You know?

This isn't a knock against anyone who likes it - I've got no problem with that.

If you want to watch a Titanic movie then get A Night to Remember.

Camerons Titanic was not about the ship, it was just a love story that happened to take place on a ship and when that warbling sealion starts i just want to put something through the screen.

I'm holding out for a sequel. Pretty well done movie all things considered. A bit self-indulgent and long-winded, but terrifically shot.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

Say what you will, but the scene where the ship is perpendicular with the ocean and one of the passengers is falling in a clockwise manner and then hits edge of propeller and kicks back and begins to tumble counter clockwise toward the ocean is pretty great.

Agreed. It is one of THE scenes that cries out for the BIG screen!!! Only by seeing it on a big screen do you really get that sense of massive scale...
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

Good idea! Or maybe "Don't Fear the Reaper"?

In my opinion, Titanic, The English Patient, The Blair Witch Project and Avatar are examples of movies that became mega popular through the sheer force of cultural hype.

No one wanted to miss out on the hot, trendy, event movie everyone else was raving about. No one wanted to stray from the flock and say, "You know, these movies are not the end all, be all, the life changing must see experiences they've been hyped to be." People feared standing out of the crowd and missing out of what was hyped as the big cultural must see movies.

I'm not going to say the movies are horrible (Celine Dion's "singing" is truly a blight though) only that they are not nearly as good as people claim they are.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I go by the words that was said when it first came out:"The boat sank, get over it."
