Any one else have HD-DVD or Blu-Ray ?

I've had both for about a year. Now with WB moving to only Blu-ray looks like HD-DVD my be on it's last leg. I think what’s real telling is that I look at the discs I own and see 80 Blu-ray 40 HD-DVD and out of those 40 15 are WB.
As far as the discs go HD-DVD was able to do allot more a year ago but now blu-ray has added almost all those features. Although sales for both players where close to even the figures didn’t include PS3, and that’s wrong most people use PS3 as a player like I do. You can even buy a remote to make it work just like a normal DVD player.

Its the old VHS VS Beta max all over again.

I think the market is moving the format to Blu Ray. Since you can buy the PS3 with Blu Ray built in it kind of helps make the market for it.

Think B.A. Where did you hide the Megos?

Yeah, I'm really disappointed with what Warner did, but I guess they figure it's in their interest to put an end to the format wars, because widespread adoption of the new high-definition video formats has been hampered by consumers waiting to see which one would win. I'm going to wait a week or two and see how things go at CES, then I'm probably going to list my Xbox 360 HD-DVD player and the Blade Runner HD-DVD box set I just bought on eBay.

From a console war perspective, this is a great boost for Sony, because most people will take a look at the price of Blu-Ray standalones and compare to the price of a PS3, then buy a PS3. Heck, I might even buy one after all of this, even though I much prefer the 360. (Unless, of course, MS somehow manages to release a Blu-Ray add-on player. I'm not holding my breath.)

What's interesting is that Warner was leaning towards going HD-DVD exclusive, as long as one of the current Blu-Ray-only studios came along, which would have been a major blow to Blu-Ray as a format. That studio (who was unnamed in the report I read) backed out, so Warner felt forced to go with Blu-Ray.

In the betamax vs VHS battle the porno-industry made the big change.
But I think that in this battle the game industry will be of a greater influence.

They are far better, although a standard DVD played on a scaling DVD player looks pretty decent depending on the disc.

I have one of each machine, and honestly, like the HD DVD better than the blu-ray, but that has nothing to do with quality, I can't tell any difference. It's more the machine itself.

It's much better I've found that my normal DVD even up-convert better on either player.
HD/Blu disc look fantastic if it's a good transfer and the movie isn't suposed to be grainy. It's my understanding that the Battle Star Galatica season 1 isn't any better because alot of it was filmed very grainy.

I was waiting to see which format would shake out and was even potentially looking at a combo Blu Ray/HD player.

The players are still a bit pricey for me so I'm going to give it another year and see how things shake out.
