    Your First Job...

Since my last post about your first "R" rated movie brought back some memories I thought Id ask this one.

    What was your first job?

Mine was a dishwasher in a restaurant that is long gone. It was the summer of 1988. I was 14 going on 15. I remember getting paid peanuts by today's standards but back then I thought it was a fortune.

Pizza Hut. I think it was 3.15 an hour and free food. Working in the food industry is rough.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

Before turning 16, this country girl picked blueberries, pruned/colored Christmas trees, and caged turkeys. Once I could get a work permit, I donned the awesome blue and white striped smock of Wendy's.

Warehouse worker at a drug distributer (unloading trucks, filling orders and other tasks). Even drove a fork lift. They stocked what you find in hospitals and drug stores. I actually handled more Class III narcotics than a lot of dealers, lol. I started at 14 during the summer (my Dad worked there and got me the gig). I stayed off and on for 7 years all through high school & college.

House painter in the summer. Also worked at The Athlete's Foot. I can't remember which was first, but the house painting lasted through college.

I worked at the San Clemente public library the summer between my junior and senior year. This is before the computer "zebra" scans, so I was one of the girls who carded returned books.

I worked at a bakery cleaning the baking sheets I remember washing them and the water would build up around the baking sheets when they were in the water and I would get my finger smashed inbetween them when seperating them hurt like heck. I was 10 or 11 I got paid $3 an hour but I did get free bakery to take home it was a pretty cool gig till the owner got shot one day when he was closing up for the night just after I left to go home. I remember showing up for work the next day and ne wasnt there I waited for 2 hours in front of the bakery before I found out he died the night before.
