Good luck with it J. My mom quit about 4 years ago at 74-year-old after smoking since her teens. Just keep enjoying that fruit.

Great job so far. This was also the hardest thing i ever quit. My best friend even told me when i was quitting, it was hard for him cause as long as he had known me it was me and my camels. I will offer one piece of advice. When the urge strikes, replace it with something else. The urge is very quick and will pass just as quick. For me it was lollipops. The hardest was when driving. I would light up as soon as the key hit the ignition. I will also offer this. You will never stop having the urge. It's been 8 years now and i'll still get that one smell where i stop and take a deep inhale. It's just that my urge to not smoke is much greater than the brief urge to puff. My dad who is going on 25 years smoke free says he even gets the urge still every once in a while. Good luck moving forward.

Ordered patches from NY States, but haven't used them. I've been smoking for about 15 years and I'm 29 now.

I've attempted to quit but never even made it to 24 hours. Physical, you feel good after a few hours of now having one. But then I go into withdrawl and and I start actually getting a bit insane. The psychological effect it has on you is something else.

It's not even really about health for me, but the money. I'm luck to have an Indian Reservation near me. If I didn't, I'd have to get a bit more serious about quitting. At $10 a pack, one could build an AMAZING toy collection instead killing them self.

If you've gone 18 days you've broken the addiction, now it's just a matter of not going back.

One thing I worked on was not to dwell on how much you enjoyed them. Don't spend time talking about how good they tasted after a meal, because there will always be that opportunity.

Banana's are high in potassium, as well. Keep up the battle. Well done.

Good Luck. I also have never been a smoker, but do understand it is really difficult.

My dad and two brothers were smokers and all three of them quit. They all said they did it because they had a reason to...in some case health issues, for one brother he was having his first child and realized that he wanted that his family was more important than the cigs. He also said that he has cravings once in a while even though he has stoppped for 10 years or so. Good luck and take it one day at a time.

Attaboy BK! I'm going on 6 weeks free from all nicotine. My biggest problem came from the nicotine gum. I got hooked on it worse than cigarettes. You can chew it anywhere. Occasionally the want creeps back up but i just dive into some work project and fight through it.

Give it hell bro! It's worth it. Believe it or not. Until lately I was of the later.

I hear that Jim. I tried the gum too. Every piece gave me a Nicotine high. Like smoking for the first time with every piece (4mg). When I ran out of the gum. I was so addicted I had to smoke twice as much cigerettes as I did before. I'm still trying to quit but I keep falling back into the habit too easy. I think I'd be Nuerotic without it.

Glad to hear your having better luck BK. Keep going!!! It'll be better for you and the family in the long run!

I Tried to get the Nicotine gum right when I got outta the Hospital a week later on my way to my 1st day back to work ..., but couldn't find it. ... Don't need it now , I think ... I pop lots of other chewing gum ...

I also spend around 100bucks or so damn near every month at GNC on different stuff ..., so I am pretty jacked up as it is ....., I got this new stuff today ..., and couldn't imagine a Nicotine High on top of it.

Today was my Most Stressful day at work since Quiting Smoking ..., and being back. I was in a JLG Lift all day ..., guiding a 40 inch pipe bracket in and out of the Shaft about 50ft in the air on the wall... with a RT Craine , using a Radio for communication .... At the End of the Day, it was pretty much an Epic Fail ..., and we didn't get the Bracket in ..., but had a Huge learning curve ..., and I didn't Break ... for that Smoke ..., But GD was it really hard.

BTW ..., When I was in 7-11 today ..., this frick'in guy came in ...., and asked for a pack of smokes. Man..., Did He stink so bad ...., it was Horrible ..., and Damn Near made me gag.

I would think that the idea behind the nicotine gum is to start off with a normal dose of nicotine (the equivalent of what you currently smoke) and steadily decrease the dosage over time to reduce withdrawal symptoms? I distinctly remember the exact moment my dad quit. He had filters that would attach to the end of the cigarette and every so often, he would move to a filter that would remove more and more of the nicotine. He was near the end and while working out in our garden it fell out of his mouth and he lost it. I think by that time, the addictive nature was basically gone and he didn't see the need to go purchase another set of filters. Again, best wishes in kicking it once and for all.
