    10 Toys That Failed

Heres another fun list although I would say it's a bit mistitled since most of them didn't exactly fail as they are offshoots of toys that were quite successful for a time.

That doll probably would have done better if the proceeds were actually given to help homeless people. I've looked at some of the interviews of what people thought of that doll, and most of them wanted to keep their kids in the dark about homelessness.

Looking at the Homeless girl doll idea objectively, I think they probably intended to go for a "Little Orphan Annie" or "Punky Brewster" (a character whom was deserted by her mother at an airport fer gawds sake) type story-line.

If those Sky Dancers were so dangerous, why were they on toy shelves for six years? I'm not understanding the uproar over the Midge doll. The article says that line came with her husband and toddler son. She's married, already has a child and this doll some how promotes teen pregnancy?

That would have been an excellent idea.

It is really sad to think that people just want to pretend that the homeless does not even exist. Those with narrow minded thinking never once think for a minute that it could be them some day.

Oh, man! my favorite movie is the Battlefield Earth.

I didn't know they made 'em and sold in Toys stores, I haven't seen that before.

Lucky thing is found 'em on ebay.

"The toy was popular right away, but less popular was its unanticipated tendency to collide with faces, teeth, and eyes. There was also one concussion and a broken rib reported in connection to the toy. Sky Dancers were recalled in 2000 after 170 reports of injuries."

So I guess a pair of nunchuks would have been a safer X-Mas present.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

I think the lawn darts would have been neat.
I dont see anything wrong with the Easy bake ovens design.

I think I remember Marty Abrams telling me he was involved with the Dragon Flyz line which was the boys version of Sky Dancers. I'm almost positive he said that to me at the NYCC a couple of years ago.

I just found an original set of Lawn Darts last summer at a yard sale. Older ones with the tube handles and the capped nut on the end holding it on. I had been looking for them for a while. I'm sure most of those injuries involved a cookout and a lot of alcohol. I could kill someone with a horseshoe but those aren't outlawed. How about the amount of indecent exposure when you couple fat people with a slip and slide. Those should be outlawed.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

A pregnant barbie doll? I wonder where the guy that came up with that is working these days?

Lot of fuss on the married pregnant Barbie doll but does anyone remember these toys made by a company called Arsnic & Apple Pie? They were sold in the late 90's. There was a whole series of them and the only place that I recall carrying them was the local record store. These were toys that really failed but most likely too obscure to mention. Probably worth a small fortune today if you actually bought them......

I love my lawn darts. I still have them and they are still fun.
