    Toy fads that faded away...

Neil Young was right, it is better to burn out than to fade away....I'm sure you guys can think of some other ones...

I remember the Cabbage Patch craze all to well. I can remember seeing the news on TV were women were standing on top of the gondoliers in the toy aisles with baseball bats fighting to get their hands on a friggin Cabbage Patch doll.

I never even bothered to think once about getting in on any of the Zhu Zhu Pets. Something told me that they would end up being a big joke.

Silly bandz were definitely way too silly even for me.

Some people still think that Beanies are going to make a big come back. I have trash bags full of them. I did not pay retail for them. I bought them when they crashed hard. I did not even want them as they were for my gf. She has since deceased and now I am stuck with them. I have not been able to bring myself to get rid of her stuff. Even though I bought the majority of it for her.

What about swatch watches, Pokemon cards, Yugi Oh cards, milk caps just to name a few more that probably should have made the list. Ohh yeah lets not forget about Tickle Me Elmo.

And what is the name of those darn toy balls game with the dragons and other creatures in them? I can see them as plain as day, but I can not think of the name right now to save my life.

Of course there is always the old stand by's that bombed hard: Starting Line Up's and Spawn figures.
Enjoy what you like, and let others enjoy what they like. (C) Azrak 2009

I think Cabbage Patch Kids finally met their end with the mess with the ones that "chewed" food. You know, the one where you'd read the stories about them eating kids' hair.

I remember going to the toy store whenever a shipment of Power Ranger figures came in. The gave you a numbered ping-pong ball and if your number was called you got a chance to buy the figures. If not, you were sent on your way. The stupid Yellow & Pink Rangers were short packed and everyone was clamoring after them.
