    My latest McCartney and Wings Grail...

    Most here know I am a huge McCartney fan. Been collecting McCartney Vinyl and memorabilia since 82/83. Over the years I've gotten tickets from every tour since '73 and up. Even got a poster from the last Wings Tour from '79...couldn't believe my eyes when I came across an original Wings Over Europe Poster from his first Post Beatles tour with Wings. I love the fact that the date on the poster isn't even on the original itinerary from the tour. Also, Henry McCullough name is misspelled on the poster. Anyway here it is...and it's a big poster coming in at 32 1/4 inches by 46 1/2 inches:

    BTW, if anyone can translate this for me I would gladly appreciate it:

    Wings Watermark in the poster is by me...don't want anyone stealing my pics. Definitely a GRAIL in my McCartney and Wings Collection.

    Their eyes can't hope to see
    The beauty that surrounds them
    Isn't it a pity".

    Translation: "Make sure to lay out this poster flat using Topps, Fleer and Score Traded sets as paper weights"

    Looks like you got it right...

        That is pretty damn cool. One of the the few, genuine living legends.

          You didn't like that answer?

          19.7 = July 19
          Mittwoch = Wednesday
          19. Juli 1972 = July 19, 1972
          20 uhr = 8 PM
          Offenbach/M. Stadthalle = this is the arena where the show was being held

          The stuff to the right is the info on locations to buy tickets & their phone numbers, both in Frankfurt and Offenbach

          The very bottom corner is the tour promoter, Lippman & Rau

            Very cool piece. I've been lucky enough to see McCartney twice and he was great both times.

                        I'd like to get it framed. What's the deal with getting old posters mounted on linen and then framed? I see that a lot with older posters these days. Is the linen supposed to be something that helps the poster in some way? I've searched the net and have only found 1 poster like this one and it is basically the same one with absolutely no info down in the lower left corner (Your right as you are looking at on the screen) I have the tour book for the 1st tour of Europe and the itinerary on the inside of the book doesn't have this date/concert listed/scheduled. I would think that would make the poster that much more rarer...probably less of these made then of the scheduled concerts. Going to try to get in contact with MPL and see if they'd like pics of the poster for their Wings archive. I still have some friends left in pre-press...I might bring the poster to them and see if I can get a camera shot of the poster.
