I have to watch that movie all the way thru again... rewatched bits and pieces over the years. As far as "realism"---it's a movie for cripes' sake
and, it makes a statement within a 2 hr. (+/-) limit... if it has to avoid
the "better side" of most people in it's characterizations to make that
2 hr. statement, then so be it.

I guess a movie like Idiocracy gets a pass because it's so "stylized"
or cause its an obvious comedy?

Otherwise, I think the two movies have a stake in insightful abstract
human commentary in common... more than people'd guess at first glance.

I think given the times today with the economic downfall and hard times people are facing, this movie isn't all that unrealistic.

Push a person so far and a major backlash could happen!

It is just a movie though
Thank you that's all Im saying ! well said sir!

I agree that "it's just a movie", I don't think there's anything wrong with that - it's fun - but it's a cartoon to me, not real life.

I'm mostly talking about the characters who drive him over-the-edge. I've met rude people - but EVERYONE in the movie is the rudest person I've ever seen. It makes a point, I guess, and certainly some of you feel a connection to that - but personally it doesn't reflect reality to me, that's all I'm saying.

Paying 20¢ extra on a soda or getting breakfast after the lunch menu changes over - it's funny stuff, but I don't relate to his anger about those things. If you do, that's fine.

Again - fun movie - I'm not putting it down.

You make very valid points. IMO I think the film is trying to show what can happen to someone that is beat down at nearly every possible instance and at some point just totally loses their will to live and continue on. Kind of a breaking point if you will. You pin a dog into a corner and they will have no choice but to fight back. Of course it is somewhat exaggerated as most movies are otherwise they could be a bit boring but the overall message is a powerful one none the less.

I remember seeing this movie when it first came out. I really liked the movie at the time. I have not re watched it in some time, but I do have it on DVD.

My favorite scene was the traffic part where the guy with the walker passed him up while he was in his car stuck in traffic. That was classic.

Agreed. Again, I just though comparing it to Death Wish made a lot of sense. I like both movies.

When you have anger issues you grow a scraggly beard and take in stray animals.
