Besides being a pretty face i can't flippin stand her. "sorry brad" At first i thought she was a decent story, however i think she sucks and is way over rated. If she was ugly i don't think she would have gotten 80% of the breaks she has received. I think she is nothing more than a glorified publicity stunt. I don't think she can drive as well as the rest in her sport, whatever vehicle she is driving. And the other thing that has now driven me nuts is she is always complaining about everyone else around her, All the time. In yesterdays race, if she could actually drive the car she would not have hit the wall again. But all i ever hear is her *****ing about everything. I hope Nascar uses her for all she is worth. Seriously i was a fan at the start cause i wanted to see her win an open wheel race so bad. I just don't think her actual ability comes close to her hype. I don't want to sound mean but i'm just tired of Danica Danica Danica. Gosh Danica win a race why don't you.

Nothing to be sorry about Mark.
I totally understand. All the hype and media attention surrounding her has probably turned a lot of people off. Really not that different from the Tebow mania IMO.
I just watched her move up the ranks from when she was somewhere around 9 or 10 years old. She grew up in Roscoe, Illinois which is only about 5 or 10 minutes North of me and raced at one of our local tracks (Blackhawk Farms) and she has always been very competitive and super focused even at a young age. That she was competing in a primarily male dominated sport was part of what I enjoyed. It doesn't hurt that she turned out to be a pretty, young lady too.
She is just the closest one to being a hometown racer for me. Other then her the only one I can think of from our area that currently has had success in NASCAR is Chad Knaus.

I am not a super huge NASCAR fan so there may be others but those are the only two I know of. Honestly I lost a lot of interest in NASCAR way back when the cars stopped being close to what you could find on a showroom floor. I was and always will be a huge fan of Richard Petty. I still have not forgiven NASCAR for the restrictions they put on the old Hemi engines. It wasn't like it was some exotic engine built only for racing (unlike the SOHC Fords or ZL1 Chevy engines) as you could get a Hemi in tons of cars including 4 door models."Never take a person's dignity: it is worth everything to them, and nothing to you." - Frank BarronComment

I am not a big Nascar fan. She may not be the elite of the elite but she does play by the same rules as everyone else regarding qualification....no?
And yes, she receives a lot of attention because she is a female in a male dominated sport and attractive. There are plenty of athletes male and female who are not the best in their respective sport, but receive a lot of attention for their looks. Maybe it isn't right or fair, but that's life. Good looking athletes receive a lot of attention and endorsements."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."
