Dear God, the Oscars were brutal to watch, even Billy Crystals witty humor couldn't save such a boring show........ highlight was when they were asking the stars what was their first movie experience, and Brad Pitt said seeing WAR OF THE GARGANTUAS. both my wife and son both turned to me as I raised both arms in JOY!!!! man has taste in fine kaiju cinema......

Lowlight was before the show Sasha Baron Cohen who dumped a urn filled with fake ashes all over Ryan Seacrest......He's a level one *** hole, and It was classy that Seacrest didn't knock him out and continued with the interviewing.......

Brad Pitt naming "War of the Gargantuas" and continuing to explain the plot was amazing.

I didn't see the Sasha Baron Cohen thing - but I don't care about Ryan Seacrest.

Jim Rash winning his Oscar and posing like Angelina Jolie was awesome too.

Overall - a really boring show, predictable wins from movies I didn't care much about.

Maybe it was all the margaritas I had, but I didn't think the show was bad at all. I'm far from a Billy Crystal fan, but thought he did a decent job and actually got a few chuckles.
None of the speeches made me roll my eyes too much, and I thought there was several touching moments. I was disappointed Max Von Sydow didn't win though.
The highlight for me too, was Brad Pitt mentioning War of the Gargantuas. For those that haven't seen it, it's available on Netflix.

I flipped it on during commercial breaks of the other shows. One thing I do like about the Oscars is that I generally have not seen the movies that win "Best Picture". I will usually rent them and find that for the most part; they are good movies. I think "The Artist" was the odds favorite to win it....and although I think it is a great concept to take a chance and make a silent movie; I will only be able to handle it if the story line is good. I was also glad to see Octavia Spencer win best supporting actress for "The Help". It is the only movie I have seen that was nominated for Best Picture and she was outstanding in it.

I think this was the first time I've ever chosen to not watch the Academy Awards. It's been a joke for years, but I always managed to care a little bit. Not this year. The inevitability of the vastly over-rated "The Artist" was a turn-off, but I didn't care about any of the other entrants either.

Billy Crystal pointed out the show was all about millionaires giving other millionaires shiny gold statues. Too true. We switched it off watched a couple episodes of Downton Abbey Season 2 instead.

I remember hearing prior to the Oscars, that Cohen was told he would not be allowed in if he dressed as "The Dictator". It was all a big publicity stunt so should have expected something like that. The media should have just ignored him and not bothered to interview him.

He was super hilarious when he did "Da Ali G" show but it has been downhill ever sense. I think everyone is simply getting tired of his antics which really are nothing more than draw attention to himself and whatever lame movie he is making these days. I really don't know who does and doesn't get invited to the Oscars, but they should simply leave him off the guest list, let him dress however he wants, and nobody bother to interview him.

I watched a good bit of it. For the most part is was boring but I agree Crystal has to be one of the best host in its history. Much better than last years hosting.

Just looked at the winners for the Oscars. SO happy Jean Dujardin won and The Artists won for best picture. I was cheering for those two. If you haven't seen it, it's a must. My favorite movie from last year. Also check out OSS 117: Lost in Rio and OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies from Jean Dujardin. Superbly hilarious, great acting and beautiful colors and cinematography.

Also glad to see Bret McKenzie win for song. Flight of the Conchords is surely a great team of musicians and writers.

No surprise Hugo won on various productions categories. Most of the movies last year were very low brow with regards to amazing production.

It was the first year I've seen where the audience held their applause until after the memorandum montage - so that was classier than other years.

Ha! I thought I was the only one who noticed/thought the same thing. Most years its like:

don't know them, don't remember them, Never seen their films, Oh (insert deceased actor here) love them clap clap clap, never heard of them, didn't like them, (insert deceased actor here) Great actor clap clap clap etc.

                        Sorry, I loved that scene...lol.

Everybody knows what Cohen was up to, no good, but doing something no good to a no talent overpaid multi millionaire spotlight hogging Seacrest, that made my day, lol,

Besides, it was just flour, I'm sure Seacrest can afford dry cleaning, lol.

Oh, and midget never had his hands dirty Seacrest ain't knocking anybody out, I know Cohen plays the inept part, but he's twice as big as Seacrest, lol.

I missed the musical numbers (the ones up for Best original song, not the Crystal opening song). I remember falling in love with some songs simply because I heard them on the Oscars.

I haven't watched the show since LOTR scooped up everything with Return of the King. Those are my all-time favorite films, so I was glued to the screen and actually asked for the day off to get prepared for the coup I knew was coming.

You know the Oscars are losing their lustre when films like Moneyball are nominated for multiple awards. What a joyless and meandering movie, both pointless and empty. A Steinbrenner biopic would have been awesome to see all the back-office dealings. Billy Beane has never won anything, now including an Oscar.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.
