Marketplace Sellers, PLEASE, NEVER DO THIS!!!

I don't know where to post this so I'm putting it in General Buzz. Mods, feel free to move it as needed.

NEVER! NEVER! NEVER! mail 3d toy parts in a regular letter envelope. I've been waiting for a couple random toy pieces from a member. Here's what I got for my $4.50. A torn open & empty envelope. It's only a few dollars, so I'm not too worried about it, and I'm not gonna call out the guy, but please consider this before you send stuff to people. I didn't expect it to be sent Priority in a Box, but a small padded env. would have been nice. I shouldn't have assumed anything, so I'm partially to blame.

somewhere there is a postal worker cursing and trying to get a small vinyl glove out of the mechanisms of a sorting machine.

By the way, I'm posting this so people can see what happens, not to be a jerk.

Yea, a regular envelope is NOT the way to go when sending something that's not flat. I once bought something on ebay from a seller in another country and he put it in normal envelope and the same thing happened, it ripped open and the item fell out. Fotunately he sent another one that arrived even though he used another regular envelope that ripped - he wrapped the item inside cardboard but that almost fell out too.

          That's sucky!

I don't think I would send anything without a box.

I cringe everytime one of my ebay purchases from overseas shows up in a padded mailer- I've been REALLY lucky so far- even with packages that looked like they'd been through the ringer a few times!

            boxes need help too.

as long as this is a PSA type thread.

I have received a few in boxes, but with zero packing supplies or help. Just loose and flopping around. The last one that was not padded was crushed on one side and my figure was sort of hanging out of the busted seam in the box when I picked it up. Nothing was lost, and I am really surprised as it was basically an open box at that point.

I have also received some carded items that were left to shake themselves off of the cards in an oversized and non-padded box.

I think items should ideally be wrapped in something to protect them like bubble wrap or at least a layer of plain paper. And then the box should be filled with peanuts or whatever stuffing the sender can get their hands on. That way the item does not want to shift around and cause damage and the box does not want to collapse when something really heavy is slammed on top of it. But maybe that is just me.

Yes, Everyone feel free to post their shipping issues. It's important for sellers and buyers. Packing is an important consideration. I've been told that boxes need to be packed to survive a 30 foot fall, and flat envs get run thru sorting machines which can rip them open if there is something lumpy inside. I'm guessing that is what happened here.

Back when computer RAM cost a fortune, I purchased a 32mb chip for $900. The darn seller puts it in a regular letter envelope like that. Luckily it came through all right, but for a $900 purchase, don't you think it would be nice to put it in a padded envelope or even a box?

I know sellers try to save as much as they can when shipping, but it is no excuse for lack of common sense

That item is long gone...the flat tray sorting machine took care of that at the facility, it's probably all crunched up under all that machinery...

Not related to envelopes...but I had a seller ship me a lunchbox with its thermos freely riding inside the lunchbox...and wrapped in newspapers.

When I opened the box...the lunchbox's graphics had its paint all scrapped up due to being cut by the crunched up newspaper...and had a bunch of dings throughout...this caused by the thermos bouncing around the lunchbox from inside.

Idiot...I swear...some people should've been born as slug droppings, not humans...
