    Waves of Collecting Enthusiasm

Having a bad day. Everyone so often, I get sick of my collection. I just it's a bunch of crap. Tired of the dust, tired of them falling down, getting broken. The space it takes up. Might have to do with the fact I started to re-organize and realized how much of my stuff is in poor shape, incomplete, etc.

Every now and then I just feel like getting rid of it all. Might also be because I haven't added to it or really found anything good lately and it just seems stagnant.

When I am on a collecting hiatus; I usually am looking for new ways to display them. One thing I have found very unusual and generalizing....not specific to Mego's but most everything I collect is the high amount of money many will spend amassing a collection but very little money on protecting them or displaying them. It is amazing how much nicer a collection looks when time and effort is not only placed in the collectible itself but in the actual display.

I have a hard time deciding how. Space limitations are a problem too.

I have these 2 big shelves. Good for large playsets, but bad for figures. I think I should eliminate them:

This could also be brought on by a piece of my breaking last night. Drives me crazy..

You probably just need a short break from them. You like all the same toys lines as I do and have had moderate success finding stuff in the wild. I think a pieced together collection is both challenging and fun. If your able to get a whole collection for a fraction of what others would pay it makes it even more rewarding.
This probably would be a good time to start thinking about different ways of displaying them with bookcases, etc. Thats part of the reason why I like the Toyroom section at the museum. Ive been hoping you would update yours soon as well.

Spydor is very delicate. It wouldnt take much!

When I'm unable to buy, and it's feeling a little stale, I find making elaborite displays or photgraphing's a great way to make the hobby feel fresh.

You could even have a craft day. Get a regular shelf, some newspaper, jug o'elmers glue, and grey & black paint and plaster a bunch of rocks all over the shelf for them to stand on etc.....

Hmm. So I should have access by... late April.

I agree with "Adam West" - it's all about how you display your collection. I just don't understand folks who collect things and then put them away in boxes.

Maybe take a break from collecting and work on better displaying of what you've got.

I haven't bought a Mego for a few months. My collecting moves in waves too.
