As I posted in the last post all these movies held up well over time. I will never forget seeing the Cannonball Run, Clash of the Titans, and Time bandits with my mom for the Matinee's cause I was only 8. I also remember seeing Raiders of the Lost Ark in the theatre on our summer vacation in Ocean City Maryland with both my parents on a rainy beach day. Here we are 31 years later and I was watching it the other day on tv.

I graduated high school on May 29, 1981.

I turned 17 a couple of months later.

Man, that was a great summer.

That was a great year for film.
I was really young but I remember advertising for Raiders, Clash of the Titans, and Superman 2.
Clash of the Titans ended up being shown at my school all the time all the way thru elementary school on projector.

That was a great bunch of movies. I caught Raiders, Superman II, Clash of the Titans, Escape from NY and Cannonball Run at the theatre or drive-in that summer. Had to wait for video for the rest (I remember really wanting to see Outland in theatres, but never got the chance).

                Don't forget:

                Dragonslayer
Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior
                Excalibur

They also came out in 1981.

Heartbeeps came out in winter time.

I cashed in a favour from my dad to go see that, I still have the buyer's remorse.

I remember that summer well. Very important time for me as it turned out. I had just turned 17, had a car and a job and for the first time a little freedom. Ran out and saw all those movies (including Excaliber, which was the first movie I saw alone in the theater). Started my sr. year at the tail end of that great movie summer.

Now, 30+ years later I got the chance to teach Raiders in my screenwriting class. Don't think I ever dreamed that would happen during that summer.

I was 10 years old and living on a farm 80 miles from nowhere. Although I got to see all of those movies later in life, that summer was spent bailing hay and tending to the animals.

Graduated high school at 17, was working and getting ready to start college in the fall. Still managed to see most of those movies as I recall.
