    Springsteen's Unfortunate Word Choice?

Apparently some people got a little upset when The Boss opened up the Grammy's with the line, "America, are you alive out there?" Somehow that got translated into him being insensitive to the death Whitney Houston. Things like this give me a headache....there's nothing wrong with what he did. That's how he opens his live shows.

How is that insensitve??!!?? Sometimes I think some media outlets have nothing better to do then micro analyze everything. Just pathetic. BTW, the upcoming Bruce and EStreet Band album will be "Born In The USA" volume 2. That first track heard tonight, "We Take Care Of Our Own", is INCERDIBLE. And I am not a HUGE Springsteen fan...but I have to admit that it's a great track.

The new album is called Wrecking Ball. ("Born In The USA" Volume 2 would have been an awful title!) I stopped paying attention to Bruce back in the 80's but every once in a while he shows up with a good track. A few weeks ago I was at a Devils game when they announced he would be playing The Rock in May and the place went a little nuts. During the Second Intermission they played We Take Care Of Our Own in its entirety and although its a brand new song there were people there that knew all he words and were singing along.

If he wanted to be insensitive about her death, there are a million other things he could have said. Utter nonsense.

Bruce has ben asking the same question if "anyone is alive out there" since 1978 or so...He opened his live radio show with that mantra on WMMS in Cleveland at the Agora.

That's just too insane. They gave awards and celebrated that scumbag Chris Brown, and this is what people are worrying about?

                  Yeah...all bull crap.

BTW...Bruno Mars stole the show...I dig his throwback Doo-wop style...and he's also a great live performer...he told the crowd to get off their rich arses and have some fun...lol.

                  Adele was a close second.

Jennifer Hudson was third...emotional...but a little subdued given the circumstances.

I was expecting to be blown away by Adele, but it didn't happen. Katy Perry's performance (whom I don't really follow, but hear a lot about) seemed less than exciting (but her seemingly sci-fi/comics related outfit was kinda cool). Taylor Swift's performance was decent, but she is just as cute as a bug in a rug, so she that going for her already (plus the girl can evidently rock a banjo pretty darn well). I missed the McCartney doing Beatles toonage part, but I have it taped. My favorite part was the Beach Boys segment. Of course, I grew up listening to A LOT of The Beach Boys, so that could be why...
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

That is absolutely ridiculous. People today are way to sensitive and they tend to make mountains out of mole hills.

This is a perfect example of how the media goes to great lengths to be divisive in order to sell a story. No integrity whatsoever. I can only imagine how p*ssed off Bruce is at this moment. What a low blow.

Anyone who saw the performance should know he was just trying to get people into his performance. Did the music ground out his voice to much to you guys? It seemed like it to me.
Adele was magnificent. I want that album now!
Bruno Mars is pretty cool. Interesting style.
Not the best show ive seen in years, but was decent.

Getting upset over what Springsteen said is just another example of folks looking for something to be offended by.

I appreciated the prayer by LL Cool J and Bruno Marrs moves. Very cool.

Adele and Hudson were great to me.

Marron 5 destroyed the Beach Boys "Surfer Girl" and not in a good way.

The Beach Boys themselves were pretty good.

Walsh's acoustic solo on McCartney's song was excellent.

Foo was valiantly fought by David Grohl and the rest of the band.

Nice to see the salute to Glenn Campbell, a fellow Arkie, but the bass player from The Band Perry looks like a refugee from the Bay City Rollers.

the B side of Abbey Road is probably my favorite side of any album so I enjoyed McCartney's closing performance, particularly the guitar throwdown at the end. Springsteen really brought the distortion.

However, I don't know if it was worth sitting through whatever it was that Nikki Minaj did.
