Marvel no prize

Ok i have been deep into recollecting the classic 3 3/4 inch figures. I also picked up the dvd's and the comics. Same ones i recently sold. Does anyone know 100% what the heck the no prize was? It wasn't them being funny and just a mention you were getting one. They actually sent the person a prize. It drove me nuts back in the day and when i went back and read them again my interest piqued again.

If I remember correctly, somebody at the Museum recounted winning one and still has the envelope.

I believe the No Prize was given if you explained an obvious error in a Marvel comic, so that instead of an error, it made sense. But I am probably wrong.

It was an envelope...an empty one...thus the term "no-prize"...

Originally it was just a mention in the comics.., then readers started writing Marvel asking 'where their no-prize was', so the Bullpen made up the envelope, had a thousand or so made and ran-out about the mid-seventies.

Thanks guys, so it really was nothing, those jerks. I tried so many times to explain a mistake not really being a mistake but i never was chosen. I appreciate the answers.

Thanks for the picture. I wish i had a few gi joe comics left. I would throw them on a fire and send that pic to marvel the jerks.

Emeraldknight actually won this once for pointing out an error in story continuity back in the 70's . That was the big reason for the award. Funny why they don't do it today? They couldn't print enough envelopes!
