    First - that was awesome!

Second- if you didn't see Ferris back in the day....the day may have passed- kinda like Fast Times at Ridgemont High- I think you just had to have seen it when it came out.

But a Christmas Story is timeless!! Doesn't matter when they made it!!

Yes...was afraid of that. And Fast Times at Ridgemont High is another to add to my list. Movies from the 70s and 80s that I have not ever seen were probably due to overprotective parents that kept us in the dark....I'm amazed I made it this far in life. It wasn't until the mid 80s that I started or was able to really go watch movies.

No, no a great movie is a great movie, it'll work even if it was made in different time. I think Ferris qualifies, Fast Times is not as good but I think it still works too.

I think Ferris is more timeless because it is more of a cartoonish farce.

Great stuff. Yeah, it would have been cool if Alan Ruck and Mia Sara made an appearance. This reminds me that it's been awhile since I've seen the movie, I'll have to fix that.

Ferris Bueller came out in 1986, (I remember b/c I saw it on my honeymoon), and these things have been on video forever, so that's NO excuse!

Some friends and I (we were in 11th grade) went to see Ferris on a special preview nite before it opened, and they gave out posters and small pins to all of us:

..which I still have. Great memories!

Didn't stop Ben from doing that crappy credit report ad. Unless they paid him big.

"Ferris Bueller's Day Off" is a favorite of mine

As cartoonish as "Ferris" is, I think it's got a lot of genuine emotional stuff in it. I think it says more about life than most serious dramas.

A sequel without John Hughes isn't something I'd want to see though.

Wonder if this will get buzz going about Ferris and get a studio to line up a sequel.

I saw Ferris in theaters, even though I was only 11 years old. I went with my older sister and her boyfriend at the time. When it came out on video my friends and I rented it every other weekend. I have it on DVD and it still holds up so well.

I normally don't like to see sequels to movies like this, but the characters were so endearing I'd love to check in on them as adults.

I saw an article a while ago on a dude who wrote a spec script that was optioned by the studio for a sequel. I think there were portions of the script online as well.

Personally, I wasn't nuts about his take at all. It was something like, Ferris was a self-help guru for CEOs, and he hijacks a private jet full of executives to cheer up Cameron after his divorce.

It just sounds really lame to me - exactly like the first one, but on a bigger scale. The Ferris dialog was just mimicking the first movie as well - John Lennon quotes, etc...

I think the first one was great because it was a personal film for John Hughes - and now that he's dead I think it will just come out all wrong.
