The VCR thread got my thinking about these bad boys. how many people owned one here?. I was on the verge in 1997 to buy one but did not pull the trigger.Actually I was looking at used laserdisc movies the other day The Original Star Wars Trilogy among others they still have charm its the packaging for me.

I still use my LD. We watched the Muppet Movie the other day on it.

Never owned one. I think after the huge VCR expense; we weren't into upgrading into new formats. I didn't purchase my first DVD player until the price dropped like a rock and only upgraded to Blu-Ray once it became the standard platform and movies were becoming available in the Blu-Ray format at a reasonable price.

STILL own one. And quite a collection of Laserdiscs as well. Many of my favorites were upgraded to Blu-ray, but I still have quite a few Laserdics that are either not available on BR or didn't want to upgrade. I have a very cool boxed set of Phantasm that was limited edition, autographed by the director and Angus Scrimm. I have most of Trek TNG on LD as well.

I had two of those box sets. One day I noticed a few were popping up on ebay and selling for unbelievable prices. I put of the sets up and got $650 for it! I paid $99.

I've never owned one - but whenever I see piles of cheap LDs I kinda wish I had. Then I think about how much space all that would take up and I move on.

It was a large boxed set that was black with silver foil stamped lettering that depicted the Star Wars logo. It had a flap that folded around to the back and was secured by Velcro. Inside were all three movies and a hardbound collectors book.

I worked for an AV store in the mid-90's and picked up a dual reader pioneer for a decent price. A few years later I ended up selling the player on consignment and the discs on ebay. I remember being blown away for the prices I got on my CLV Star Wars set.
