A fan film made a couple years ago with some of the original cast and guest cast members?
Star Trek: Of Gods and Men
I was quite impressed by it, even though the lack of budget showed more often than not (the CGI looks like CGI even tough it is used to great effect and at one point Walter Koenig wears a badly tailored fan made movie uniform) they did a lot of great stuff.
The movie starts with what happens when Charlie Evans (Charlie X) finally escapes from the Thasians (which took him off the Enterprise bridge over 40 years ago) with the intention to get even with Captain Kirk and goes from there.
