I prefer Gin over Vodka and I don't make them too dry. As far as olives, I usually go with pimento but sometimes bleu cheese makes for a nice change.

Bombay Sapphire is an excellent choice for a great Martini, but if you're into gin and would like to try one with a real unique taste, go with Hendrick's.

They've added two untraditional botanicals: cucumbers and Bulgarian rose petals.

Once, when I was down in Florida visiting my niece, she took me to a very cool bar (which, sadly, I cannot remember the name of) and we tried a martini maid with tequila. Was very, very good. I think it's one you would dig quite a lot, Hector....

Nope. This was no Margarita. It was a 'tini made with tequila...

Like antiquetiger said (I noticed he just came out of hiding after his LSU thrashing, but I didn't forget, lol)...once you change the contents in a Martini, it's usually no longer called a Martini. Like when you have gin, vermouth, and pickled onion (instead of olive), it becomes a Gibson. A vodka, vermouth based Martini is a Kangaroo. You add whiskey to vermouth, it becomes a Manhattan...and so on.

But that still sounds good...I'm sure I'd love it...

I guess as long as you add vermouth with any type of clear liquor (with olive or pickled onion)...it will technically be a Martini...

                  Never had a martini.
But if I ever had one with Sue and Diana, I'd be happy.

                      (Super) Man's Ruin
Okay, one of you artist types has to put together a Man's Ruin tattoo with Lois Lane in a martini glass, Kryptonite dice and Mego Museum cards.

I only like vodka martinis, because I'm not crazy about gin. Usually I'll take a picked onion instead of olive (technically a vodka Gibson, I guess.)

The funny thing to me about martinis is that it's one of those things where all the experts seem to disagree with each other about how the proper one is made - and they all all like to say their way is the right way.

True. Hollywood's legendary Musso & Frank serves 'em (much to 007's chagrin) stirred not shaken.

First time there, my buddy and I intended on having a Martini and then driving to Pinks on Melrose for dinner. Well, little did we know that their Martini consisted of a full glass plus a chilled side-car. We stumbled out of there and walked up and down Hollywood Blvd. a few blocks and realized we were still too drunk to drive to Pinks. We ended up having dinner at Musso & Frank's. (BTW best Martini I've ever had at a restaurant. )
