My mom passed
Our world will never be the same.
I wish I could turn back time.
I will tell you how I started collecting mego's
Way back in the 70's I saw an ad for batman figures, I have always been a batman fan. I asked my parents to get him for me. I must have been 5 yrs old at the time. We went to Alexander's on 3rd Ave in The Bronx (NYC) We went to the toy department which was located in the anex of A lexanders in the basement, and we looked for Batman, Sadly there was no Batman to be found. there was Robin, Superman and I think Tarzan or Aquaman, but no Batman, i picked up a Robin, when I looked at him, i told my parents look they walk, they have leg joints. My dad asked one of the workers if they had Batman, they looked and said no we don't have anymore of him. My mom did not give up, she began to look through the bottom draws in the store where Alexanders stored stock (They were located right below the displays) she looked through a few of them, and guess what? she found an open Batman it was ripped form the open window boxbut was complete, it was a removable mask Batman. i was so happy. they got it for me. As time passed the figure became worn and parts were lost, it was replaced a few times with the newer non removable mask version. About 10 yrs ago My mom once again found the head/mask of this figure , I put it on a type 2 body and uniform. sadly the head under it was no longer Bruce, it was Clark and it had those terrible blue stains, but, I did not care. I had him back. The last 5 yrs I have slowly been putting him back together. I now have repro window less box for him, a type 1 non stirup same material as cape shorts and regular boots and 2 belts for him. I Cant tell the belts apart no matter how much I try looking at the website. Now I Have him back, but I lost the person who got him for me. Every time I look at him I remember her. I Will later tell you how she fixed my Superman figure and about my Big Jim.
Mom, I love you and miss you.
