Maybe that is the answer. There have been A LOT of MAJOR drug busts in the USA lately. Therefore, The munchie level has declined. It all makes perfectly good sense.Enjoy what you like, and let others enjoy what they like. (C) Azrak 2009
Too much space. Need more toys!

Hostess hasn't seemed to have much of a shelf presence in this area in a long time. Little Debbie is bigger here. I never see Dolly Madison any more either.
Maybe they should do some new comic ads? Of course now Red Arrow would be eating them due to his munchies, and Spider-Man would make a deal with Satan to forget he ever loved Ho-Hos.

What a great memory! It would be tragic if we lost an American institution like Hostess. Our society is so screwed up. Its all about moderation in what you eat. There's no reason why our shelves need to be stacked with low fat foods if we just get the proper amount of exercise and eat a balanced meal every day. Ahem...Where's my Cabo?Comment

I have not eaten a Twinkie (or any other Hostess snack cake) in probably ten or more years, but I loved 'em as a kid and it would be a shame to see them go away. But then, MEGOs were big when I was kid and they're gone now, too, except for people's collections, repros and this site.
Hmmmmm---perhaps we should branch out and preliminarily begin the HOSTESS MUSEUM?? Just think---we could get some great photos of well-preserved snack cakes!!!
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.Comment

Of course, I remember watching some TV show where they showed a Twinkie that was like 20 years old, but still basically looked the same simply due to the HUGE amounts of preservatives they put in those things! Just think, if we all only ate one Twinkie a day, perhaps we could preserve ourselves from the inside out and become immortal.
Or we could just wind up clogging our arteries and dying a long, slow painful death.
But our corpse would likely be well preserved anyway...!!!

I used to be a chocolate cupcake and fruit pie fan back in the day.
My favorite pies were blueberry, cherry and lemon.
I remember once, and ONLY once eating a boysenberry pie that Hostess put out, many years ago.
I haven't been able to find it since.
Little Debbie's pies are pretty close to Hostess, and if the big H goes out of business, I suppose that I will have to make the switch.
I can't find Hostess fruit pies for love or money in my neck of the woods anyway, so I suppose its inevitable.JediJaidaComment

I'm of the opinion in some form Hostess will live on, no matter what happens. The brand names are valuable but as their article states their cost structure is an issue. So if they eventually went under I'd fully expect another company to buy the trademarks/recipes.Comment
