Why yes it was! And I thought it an interesting word AND a word I was actually unfamiliar with, so I thought this thread would be a good way to introduce people to new words that they may not otherwise know about....

It was either WORD of the day or TURD of the day, in which case I would've been posting various photographs of fecal matter on a daily basis....

                    Today's word is.......

                    CENOTAPH   [sen-uh-taf, -tahf]
                    noun
a sepulchral monument erected in memory of a deceased person whose body is buried elsewhere.

I've always thought this was an interesting word ever since I first heard one of my fave bands, The Cowboy Junkies, use it in a song of theirs called "The Last Spike"

For your listening pleasure, here's a link to a YouTube video featuring the song....

Word of the day for today is:

                            THAUMATURGY\THAW-muh-tuhr-jee\ ,
                            noun
The performance of miracles or magic.

Of course, none of these improbable meetings ever took place in reality. But within the realm of showbiz thaumaturgy, they're perfectly acceptable examples of latter-day digital compositing, wherein it's possible to have anything share a frame of film or video with practically anything else.

It's time again for The Word of the Day...!

                              Today's Word is:

                              Paradigm [par-uh-dahym, -dim]
                              noun
                              1. Grammar;
                              a. a set of forms all of which contain a particular element, especially the set of all inflected forms based on a single stem or theme.
                              b. a display in fixed arrangement of such a set, as boy, boy's, boys, boys'.

                              2. an example serving as a model; pattern.

This word came to mind as I was tooling about in my car today listening the "Tear The World Down" by We Are The Fallen. One of the songs on the album is called simply "Paradigm" and it IS a great song!
