I've always been a DLR fan and only briefly a red rocker fan before '86. Never vanhagar. I saw the real VH in '08 and they rocked for a solid 2 hours straight. This little sound clip didn't do anything for me, but I know the new album will be awsome and I'll get it as soon as it's available.

I just went and listened to this stuff . . granted they were low quality recordings in a bar, but gosh did DLR sound bad!! Wouldn't they have been better off finding a younger singer that could hit those notes they way they should sound (i.e. journey has done this and it seems to work for them) I dunno I just cringe to think that is what sell-out crowds will be hearing . . . .My Custom Figures

I think the VH fans are just happy to finally have a new studio album since what? 1993? So I can understand the knee jerk reaction to like just about anything they put out. But honestly this new entry is pretty weak. It's underwhelming in construction and just lumbers along. I scanned some VH forums to see what their saying and basically their listening to it until their ears bleed to make themselves like it. The more I listen to it, the more I get bored with it. Hopefully there are much better tunes than this for the album's Feb 7th release. If there are, this is certainly an odd choice for a breakout song.Comment

totally forgettable song, sub run of the mill VH. the chorus is really annoying. You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie BanksComment

Rewrite the chorus and get a Mikey knockoff to sing back-up.
The whole thing can sound like dog crap and I'll probably still buy it. I'd take this song any day over Love Walks In:-)Comment

I don't know...I kind of like the new tune. Eddie's guitar tone is awesome. It is just a fun rock song. I can't wait to see them in Chicago.

My favorite Sammy songs are Humans Being and Crossing Over. Poundcake is right up there though.Comment

The reaction this song is getting on the net is pretty frightening. It reminds me of the mentality some fans had the day Phantom Menace came out. The Lunatic fringe is alive and well today (not here of course). But some people are ready to fight anyone who doesn't like it. Some want to call it the second coming. And then you have the opposite side that hates it and wants to fight the ones who like it. And with Van Halen you get the added riff of the Dave vs Sammy argument thrown in. Then you have the rest of us SANE individuals caught in the middle who may kind of like it, may not like it, but don't lose sleep about it either way. It's a SONG. That's all. It's so nice to see everyone here discussing it with sane voices and no over the top exclamations. I love this place! And yes, let's go ahead and address the 500 pound elephant in the room with my avatar. Yes, I love Sammy. But I love his solo work the best. The Van Halen stuff with Sammy is good, but I also like the early years with Dave as well. I take the best of both worlds when it comes to Van Halen. Ahem...Comment

If anyone thinks that Van Hagar didn't ROCK...this is one of my favorite of the Van Hagar era:

It also shows how much VH is gonna miss Michael Anthony. The man is an absolute ANIMAL on this track."When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
The beauty that surrounds them
Isn't it a pity".
