Share your early Toy Fair predictions and wild speculation.

Toy Fair is a little over a month away and I'm already getting psyched for it. So I thought it would be fun to post our predictions and hopes for this years Toy Fair before the usual rumors and leaks start.

    My predictions:

    Very likely:

I think Care Bears is going to be a big push for Hasbro. They've been sitting on the license since 2008 and it's the Care Bears 30th anniversary this year. Updated modern Care Bears and some retro Kenner anniversary bears.

With the success of Jem on the Hub and the release of the DVD sets I would be shocked if Hasbro finally didn't release new Jem dolls. Updated dolls for kids and maybe a retro Jem and Pizzazz doll for old school fans.

    Sorta likely:

A new MOTU retail action figure line for MOTUs 30th anniversary.

Judging by the Unit-E comic Hasbro had at NYCC last year, new M.A.S.K. and Micronauts are a fairly safe bet. But I won't be totally surprised if they are still a no show too.

Long shots but would be cool:

    Dungeons and Dragons by Hasbro
A new Rainbow Brite line by Mattel

Not a chance in hades but I'd love to see:

    Sectaurs by Hasbro
    Inhumanoids by Hasbro
    Major Matt Mason by Mattel
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I was just about to say I'd love to see M.A.S.K. return, since it was one of my favorites... but then I realized what makes it a favorite is the '80s-ness of it. A Hummer that gives birth to a submarine and a Chevrolet Volt that turns into a Predator drone may be what today's young whippersnappers are clamoring for -- but they'll lack the boxy charm of a boat-spewing Jeep, and a Camaro that's a jet 'cause its gull-wing doors say it is. Viva la '80s!

EDIT: Actually though, in these days of improved sculpting and paint ops, new versions of Sectaurs and Inhumanoids could be kind of interesting. Vintage Sectaurs have a sort of proto-McFarlane feel to them.

IŽd like to see Mattel come out and say they are very sorry but will not be doing the WWE legends line exclusively on Mattycollector but they will indeed be at retail again.

I went to one here in the UK yesterday, very poor showing with only 9 stalls. Spoke to one of the stallholders and he said its very quiet has been for last 3 shows. I would say 75% of items were Model Railway, no Mego whatsoever so didnt spend a penny

I expect it to pretty conservative all the way around, not much from any one company. A few re-mego lines from EMCE and BBP, probably nothing or a couple repeats from Retro Action Mattel. Lots of 3 3/4 inch figures as they are cheaper to produce and seem to sell at a inflated price pretty well.

I would love to see this happen. I was a fan of the LJN figures and I foolishly sold them off a few years ago.

I'd like to see a brand new action figure line that, hopefully, would be so popular that people would be excited for it's 30 year anniversary retro line in 2042.

I am hoping to see the Dr. Evil from Round 2 along with his Green Goblin and Loki outfits.

Also excited to see if there are any more prototypes or finished figures for the BBP Six Million Dollar line, Battlestar, and Doctor Who.

Ditto. Therefore I expect to be pretty disappointed. Manufacturers are finding the 3 3/4 inch line a much more profitable line. Shame.

Im all for bringing back all the popular 80s toy lines. Its time for MOTUC to go retail for sure. Like the others say, it will probably be a disappointing year with nothing but tiny movie tie-in figs mixed in with some wrestler and over done superhero figures.

This is pretty much my list as well. Especially the Captain Action stuff and SMDM.

^ I'm anxious to see BG and SMDM, too. Now that the 80s are thirty+ years ago, I would guess that those eras would start to get the nostalgia treatment soon.
                            It's all good!
