kindle fire-my thumbs are too big

My wife is out with my daughter at girl scouts, so I'm playing with the kindle I got her for her Xmas gift. I'm finding it very hard to type and this thing has a large screen compared to a smartphone. I'm going to sound so old, but I cannot figure out how the young kids today just type away on those things so fast. Took me about ten minutes to type this.
    It's all good!

I'm going to get the regular black & white entry model...I don't wanna surf or anything, I already have two computers and an iPhone...I just need the kindle to read books...that's all.

Steve jobs warned everyone that 7 inch screens were too small to do anything unless you filed your fingers down to points! Kindles are great for reading, but I wouldn't want to use them for other apps.

I find that kind of funny considering the Iphone and Ipod touch screens are even smaller.

I personally find the Ipad too big and hard to hold.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

My kids bought my wife one of the lower versions for Christmas. She likes it for reading. Travels well and it's easy to use. Great battery time. She doesn't have the WiFi version. My old school net book still does what I need for traveling but I'll get a tablet if that ever goes south. I still say within 3-4 years we'll all carry a 6 inch tablet/phone/personal computer that does everything we need throughout the day and night. Then the computers will take over and kill us all. It's inevitable.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

Yeah, I don't see how people use iPhones and iPods for apps. I use my phone as a phone and my iPod to listen to music. I use the iPad for everything else. Maybe it's hand size but I find the iPad to be the perfect size for a tablet. I tried the 7 inch tablets and they were too small and anything bigger would be too big.

^ Actually, I figured out what was bothering me. It wasn't that I couldn't hit the right "keys" if I looked down at the screen, but I am so used to touch typing, the fact that there are no real keys, just a flat surface, was slowing me down. I also discovered that when browsing, I can do the "swish" thing with my fingers to zoom in on a section so I could hit a link correctly.
                It's all good!

I personally don't know how anybody can tap on glass that much. I know tablets are very popular but they're not for me and my large hands. I barely like laptops.

I got a Kindle Fire for Christmas. I was worried I would have trouble with it, but so far... I have really enjoyed it. I think it is a perfect size. But you need to embrace the idea that you are mostly consuming data rather than producing it.

Apple heavily promotes and advertises both as perfect for gaming and apps. That's why I find it darkly humorous they try to bash the Kindle Fire as having too small of a screen when it is much larger than the iPhone and iPod.
