Movies in need of an upgrade....

I was responding to the post about the new Blade Runner movie over in the science fiction thread and got to thinking about some franchises that would be cool to revisit or update be it that the original films are dated or just sucked. So heres my top 5 that are in need of an upgrade
    1. Masters Of The Universe (A real one...on Eternia)
    2. Buck Rogers (it worked for Battle Star...)
    3. Flash Gordon (blasphemy maybe but I find the original movie just awful)
    4. The Black Hole (with visuals like Tron but no Jeff Bridges) supposedly this is coming out
    5. Dick Tracy (more gritty and not as campy as the Disney film...don't force all the villains into one movie!)

There's a Flash Gordon movie supposedly happening. Reads like its based on the original comic strips too.

I disagree with all of your first 4 Picks Especially Flash Gordon but except Dick Tracy since I have never really seen it.Hollywood has screwed up too many redos so far and they are not getting better at it only worse. Some things just need to be left alone!

The thing is with Flash Gordon, most people think about that garbage that aired on SyFy not that long ago.

I agree that Hollywood can really foul up some classics (Lost In Space, Dukes of Hazzard, the first two Mission Impossibles, Indiana 4, 21 Jump Street) but they do sometimes get it right (The Fugitive, Xmen 1st Class)...Heres my post from the Blade Runner thread which explains big problem when it comes to remakes..."The trend I don't like with bringing back these old movies is feeling like your obligated to bring back the star from the original. Whether its a stupid cameo apperance of the main role these new movies shouldn't be pigeon holed into casting someone just because they appeared in the first some years ago. The Alien series is one of the best example of this... Alien 3 and up would have been way better WITHOUT Ripley (focus on the Marines!) Forcing Arnold in Terminator movies is silly now...move on. I loved the new Tron for the visuals but Jeff Bridges didn't need to be there and the movie suffered from him being there. So if Blade Runner gets remade it's like a prerequisite that Harrison Ford or Rutger Hauer or whoever show up in some diminished role to remind us of the original. Just tell the stories from a different perspective without recycling cast."

              1. Masters Of The Universe (A real one...on Eternia)
Would be cool if it got its inspiration from the early minicomics and stays away from the filmation cartoon and more recent one. (nothing against them, i just want it to go in a different direction.)
              2. Buck Rogers (it worked for Battle Star...)
The show was so so, it would be neat to see some of the comic strip in this one.
              3. Flash Gordon (blasphemy maybe but I find the original movie just awful)
Like the Buster Crabbe serials and the movie from years ago. The syfy series was nothing much (like most things on that channel) A movie that really tries to capture the strip and has a good crew making it works for me. Just dont make it like the current junk
              .
              4. The Black Hole (with visuals like Tron but no Jeff Bridges) supposedly this is coming out
              Never seen it.
              5. Dick Tracy (more gritty and not as campy as the Disney film...don't force all the villains into one movie!)
I actually like the Warren Betty movie and always thought there would be a sequel. I would be fine with a reboot.

I would like to see The Rocketeer given another try as well.

X-Men 1st class is so not the Comics ..., I just don't understand the Love for it. I wish Singer Would just go away.

A CGI Arnie Could Live in Enternity in the Terminator Franchise.
The Best Alien Movie for me was Part 4 ...
They Screwed up Big time with the Alien/Predator Movies ..., Them should took place with Ripley ..., On Earth After Aliens 4... It was the perfect set up for a Kick Arse Sci-Fi Action Flick.

                I'd like to see a New Jaws Movie ...., No really a Re-make ..., just a New 1.
... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.

I think it's time for an updated version of the original Highlander. I think that could be done really amazing these days. Still like the original, but there could be more done with it now. They would have to keep the Queen soundtrack though!

The Neverending Story, but have it really never end.
No but seriously, have Del Toro do it.

I thought there were already plans to do a remake?

1.The Rocketeer- a sequel, not a remake no need to top the original it was
                          excellent...

2.The Phantom-again a new adventure not that crap that SyFy did

                          3. Flash Gordon- Closer to the strips or the old film seriels not a modern take

                          4. Masters Of The Universe- come on anything is better than that crap Dolph
                          was in.

                          5. Timecop- remake of the Van Damme movie I like the concept

                          6. Dick Tracy- a hardcore noir version.....

                          7. Lost in Space- Come on get it right the 90's one was so close.

                          8. The Avengers- Steed and Emma Peel need a kick *** version......

                          9. Mortal Kombat- a new better budget flick.....

                          10. War of the Gargantuas....ok guilty pleasure New Gargantuas wrecking
havok in Japan meaner versions of the monsters from the original.....

i don't know anyone that actually watched that crapfest or who would think of it when a new movie is mentioned

the Highlander remake is in the works, but the story completely reworked from what I understand

HeMan would be cool if they did it right. Buck rogers would be awesome

Dick Tracy is locked up by Warren Beatty so its only going to happen thru him.
