New years eve.....can't stand it

Ah, it's no big deal to me. It always seemed like one of those forced holidays where you feel like you have to go out and have fun because you think everyone else is. Of course, in my younger years that was a good excuse to go to parties and get drunk. Now, I just enjoy having a nice relaxing dinner at home with my family, maybe some junk food and movies too.

I'm really looking forward to all the fireworks at midnight, we have the sports on at the moment and the burgers are cooking.

I agree 100%. Just an excuse for folks to get drunk. Ppl bagging pots and pans together at midnight is not considerate of those sleeping at that hours, like little kids, etc.

I've always hated New Years.

When I used to babysit kids, we'd have a sleepover party. We'd eat, play video games, watch movies and ring in the New Year w/ Dick Clark. And yes, we'd go outside and bang pots and pans and use noisemakers, and toast w/ Sparkling Apple Cider. I miss doing that, darn this recession.

I would say that my daughter and I will be well asleep before midnight (at least I hope so!). Boring adulthood has overtaken me.
