Sears and Kmart closings coming to a town near you

Wouldn't it be sad if one day Sears and Kmart stores are no more? If they don't buck the current trend and start cleaning up their stores, that will become a reality. Here's a list of those closing in each town.

We havent had a Sears around here for a long time

A Sears is actually still an anchor of my local, modest mall. The store is clean and well-run. I got a great deal on a Sony B-R player there a few months back.

I was just in the Sears in Lewston, Idaho, last week and it was the first Sears I had stepped foot in over a decade. And that's why I think its just a matter of time before the Wish Book holds an even dearer place in our memories.

There used to be a Sears with a large-ish tower at the base of the Roosevelt Blvd in Phildelphia duirng my chiuldhood. I remember covering its implosion in the 90's and thinking it was the end of an era even then. My grandmother had worked there for many years and I always remembered thinking that improved my chances as I circled the best Megos in the Sears catalog every year.

Our local K mart closed and converted to a Sears. Now the Sears is closing and they plan on reopening as Kmart. Right across the street from a nice Target!
Too many toys. Not enough space!

Our local K-Mart is right across the street from Walmart.

Walmart has zillions of customers, K-mart basically has none.

K-Marts prices are also crazy high compared to Walmart

I can't see how they are still in business ?

The only people that go to our K-mart are a few senior citizens that hang out at their restaurant.

I got to Sears sometimes. I hope the one here in Oakland doesn't close.

                        I defiantly know the local sears will close. but the kmart is the most successful kmart in the country so... you get my drift;

The local newspaper has the Sears closing as the top headline. I cant see the mall here staying open without it. Dispite what some say, i consider it a big deal. Sears has been around for as long as i can remember.
The Kmart here has been gone for many years. They had opened a new building and was gone within a couple of years. Finally after being vacant for a number of years its becoming a upstart college campus. To bad i cant afford the tuition.

My local Kmart is a dump. Before Sears purchased them, the store was always a complete mess and the local manager seemingly not caring. After Sears bought it they upgraded to a Super-K. Problem is that it is still a dump (just a bigger dump). I rarely shop at Sears. The also like Land's End who they purchased a few years ago. As much as I love the place for notalgic reasons; I really don't buy much there.

I am truly amazed that there is not more stores closing in Missouri than what is shown. Especially one that I have visited before and know of in particular. If I were to have bet I would have bet on at least one more of the couple of K-Mart's that is left around here as getting the boot for sure. I guess it is safe until the next round.

The thing that bothers me about the whole scenario is that Sears was once the bomb. Sears was THEE place to be. Sears is were my parents shopped a lot. I am talking almost every weekend. Sears is where I got my first Mego's as a kid. I hate the thought of knowing that the days are numbered IF they do not pull their heads out of their aces and do something different strategy wise and do it soon.

It would be so awesome to see them rise once again bringing back American products and creating jobs for the economy rather than taking them away.
