    Different times, HardyGirl.

Back then kids only had television with a few channels.

Today they have television with a billion different channels, computers, video games, world wide web, 25 screen movie plexes, etc...

    Very different world today.

Yeah, I think today's TV will resonate with future generations. Also, it would probably surprise us what today's kids know about "our" popular culture. I had a university professor conjecture that if you didn't grow up in the 60s you wouldn't "get" The Simpsons TV show. His students then proceeded to let him know that we'd been force-fed boomer pop culture for the last 20 years and that yes we "got" The Simpsons. People like that are examples of the kind of person I don't want to be when talking to young people. Every generation has their touchstones and I'm sure this one will be no different.

    Hmmmm....

Oh yeah, they'll be remembered. A lot of a person's affection for something like a show isn't just due to traits inherent to the show; it involves a lot of socialization and developmental stages on the part of the viewer. So one day there'll probably be "Seinfeld" conventions (if there aren't already,) groups dedicated to "Lost," discussions about that overlooked classic "Surface" (I'm being ironic here; the show blew) remake after remake after remake of "Grey's Anatomy" the dark gritty "Desperate Housewives" movie (or would that be a buddy comedy?) and endless arguments over which of the twenty "CSI" series was the best.

*sigh* Hopefully I'll be dead by then.

Who doesn't know "Leave It To Beaver", and what a "June Cleaver" type of mom is?
Alot of the kids today don't know. I think T.V and pop culture for the most part are only important to the generation it apllies to.

The only thing that will be remembered about todays T.V is the reality shows because they where so stupid.

    I think.

No idea. It's funny how stuff like that works. Sometimes it's something you would least expect.

Will today's TV impact future generations?

You know, I'm a Star Trek fan, and I've been watching my Batman tapes, and I was just thinking how much of an impact those shows made over 40 years ago, have on TV viewers today. Who doesn't know "Leave It To Beaver", and what a "June Cleaver" type of mom is? And The Brady Bunch? Please! You have to live under a rock not to know that show, even today! So do you think any of the shows that are on today will impact future generations like our old faves do today?
