Photoshop...anybody know how to use it?

I'm trying really hard with both Adobe Photoshop & PhotoSuite...to figure out how make a Chris Reeve Superman wallpaper! What I can figure out how to do is, cut out Chris from one Picture...then add a different Background???? Any help, or tips would be GREATLY appreciated...thanks!

Here's the Images I'm working with(I want to put Chris in the far right corner):

All you need to do now is take the photo into Adobe and paint around him --to clean up the edges of the image

I flipped the sky so the light's direction would match that on Reeve, then lightened it.
