In no particular order, and off the top of my head:

    Classic
    - Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas : Judy Garland (from "Meet Me In St Louis") or Bing Crosby
    - White Christmas : Bing Crosby
    - The Christmas Song : I'm torn on this one; I'll grudgingly go with Nat King Cole, but I also like Mel Torme (the guy who wrote the song)
    - Let It Snow : Dean Martin. Dino in complete hipster form here ("Maaannn, it doesn't show signs of stoppin'...")
    - Here Comes Santa Claus : Elvis Presley

Not a definitive favorites by any means.

    Modern-ish Special Mention
    - Believe : Josh Grobin. I really like this song, and the movie it's from ("The Polar Express")
    - Wonderful Christmastime : Paul McCartney
    - Same Auld Lang Syne : Dan Fogelburg

      2-Grown Up Christmas List
      3-A Christmas to Remember
      4-Breath of Heaven

And then to switch things up, who doesn't love Bob Rivers Twisted Christmas tunes

I don't dislike any classic old time Christmas songs but I guess I'm kind of numb to them now. So as far as songs (or covers of songs) that came out in my lifetime by popular acts my top 5 are...

              Slade - Merry Xmas Everybody
Springsteen - Santa Claus is Comin' to Town
Run DMC - Christmas in Hollis
Tom Petty - Christmas All Over Again
Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Wizards in Winter

I actually used to enjoy McCartney's Wonderful Christmastime but I think I've heard that song more than any Christmas song in my adult life, to the point where I cannot even stand 10 seconds of it anymore.

I can't really pick just 5. However my fave Xmas albums are Harry Simeone's Chorale: O Bambino/Little Drummer Boy, Roger Williams Christmas Time, and the Jackson 5 Christmas album (which I'm still not able to play just yet, makes me too sad).
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

I love so many Christmas songs, it's hard to rank em. But I especially love:

It's Christmas all over again. Tom Peaty. "Christmas is a rockin time, put your body next to mine. Underneath the mistletoe we go... Brilliant song!

It's the most wonderful time of the year/ Happy Holidays by Andy Williams. Just feel good songs with an incredible voice.

Father Christmas, the Kinks. Excellent rock tune with great guitar riffs and the Christmas bells thrown in. Throw in the threat of violence for money instead of toys in the lyrics, awesome!

Wizards of Winter, Trans Siberian Orchestra. An amazing arrangment that would have anybody jamming an air guitar too!

Fairtytale of New York is the only acceptable Christmas song for me.
Well, I guess The Twelve Days of Christmas single from GG Allin is okay too.

Love the Grinch song, too, but it was actually sung by a guy name Thurl Ravencroft, who was also the voice of Tony the Tiger. Karloff did the narration.
