Need Help converting NTSC to Pal format

I have a Samsung BD 5700 Blu Ray player. I purchased a DVD from Deepdiscount.com not knowing that it was Pal format. It didn't even mention this.

The movie isn't available in the U.S. right now and was wondering if there is any way for my dvd player to watch the movie in this format.

I know a lot of you are experienced with this and would appreciate any advice.

if your player is not converting the film, then unless a hack exist, probably not. However many low end dvd players out right now (as well as bluray players) WILL do this for you

found an alleged dvd region code hack, but nothing that states the player can convert and play PAL

just curious, what movie is it?

Is it a Blu Ray that is PAL or is it a regular DVD that is PAL? I bought Black Shield of Falworth from the UK on Blu Ray and it played in my Blu Ray player with no problems. I haven't tried a PAL DVD in my Blu Ray Player yet. Now you have me curious. If it's a plain DVD, you could probably play it and decrypt in on your computer. Most computers have DVD players that are region free.

Thanks, none of that worked. It is actually Brewmasters Season 1 which was on the Discovery Channel. It was released in Australia but apparently won't be released in the U.S. until mid-2012. I thought I hit the jackpot and received a Region 1 disc only to receive and see that it is the PAL Australia format.

It is a Region 1 Blu Ray player and a PAL DVD.

Cool, got the short term fix. I just inserted it into my computer and changed it to region 4 and it is working. Would still like to watch it through my dvd player if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks

Just make sure that you can change regions as many times as you want. I think some older computers only let you change regions so many times before it makes your computer DVD player that region permanently.

You mean watch it on your bluray player correct?

you know it IS possible your samsung bluplayer would convert the PAl signal over, BUT IT MIGHT NOT be a region free dvd player. So if the disc came from Australia it usually means it might be a region 4 disc

no harm done, but try the trick I listed in the first reply to you and see if you can make the machine dvd region free via the remote. If it works, then try to play your disc

here found this (look towards the bottom) which should help you out more:

What I do is rip and reburn to play on stand alone or share. Otherwise on my Mac or PC I view it with video and audio out to flatscreen.

Any recommendations on software that will rip and reburn. It isn't blu-ray quality and really don't want to futz around with changing region codes back and forth for the single DVD. It is going to be released mid next year in the U.S. As best as I understand, the big delay has something to do with the last episode where DFH Brewery is collaborating with a Brewery in Italy to make a special brew for Mario Battali's Eataly in New York. I didn't see anything on the episode last night that would be creating problems so maybe something went sour after the collaboration which has been holding up the release of the DVD in the U.S. for more than a year. Thanks again for all of your input.

I use my Mac so I rip using MacTheRipper.
Then drop in Toast. All the files. Pretty fast. I've done this with a lot of stuff from Australia.

however his machine may or may not play a pal disc. I listed a rather simple option that he could use to actually change the region codes (or make it region free) for the dvd part on his bluray player.

If using a PC, use dvdfab decrypter to rip the disc (which in the process will remove any region codes). Use imgburn to then burn the disc

However if it is a dual layered disc, then you need to use a dual layer (dvd+r DL) to burn the disc, or more software in order to shrink it down so it would fit a standard singe layer disc.

On top of all of that we still have not confirmed if your player can even play PAL format dvds.

to be honest what you want to do is rather easy, but depending on what may or may not play on your bluray player will dictate how easy or what minor hassle it will be

do you have any region free PAL dvds at all? If so pop one in your machine and if it plays and converts the signal then it really is just as easy as ripping and reburning without the region code, or just making your machine region free which was listed above
