    NFL cheerleaders

    Way back in the mid 80's the NFL got really popular here in the UK with tv coverage which we had never had before. One of the things the tv picked up on and made a big thing of was the cheerleaders, there were some games where we saw more of them than the actual game ( not that i'm complaining you understand ).

    Move forward to present day and we still get to see a game every week but i have noticed that the cheerleaders are now pretty much ignored in the coverage. You can see they are in the stadium but the coverage is very much on the game ( now i'm complaining ).

    Has this happened in the US aswell, maybe without you really realising it and is there a reason for it?

      Never gave it to much thought, but yes, only once in a while, when going to commercial do they show them.

          It also may be because some teams no longer have them. The Bears got rid of them in the later 1980s (86-87ish I think) and I am pretty sure there are other teams without them.

                      well now you have amazed me allready as i thought every team had cheerleaders, i'm astonished to learn that some teams do not. Back when i was talking about the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders were massive in the UK, they did tours of their own and i know i have a calender somewhere from about 1986.

                          The classic porno Debbie Does Dallas marked the zenith of the cheerleader craze here in the US.

                              I have noticed that they typically will show a cheerleader when returning from commercial break but that is about it.

                                  As a side note, the Redskins didn't really have great looking cheerleaders compared to teams like the Dallas Cowboys....times have changed.

                                                  Joking aside, for home games, the Packers use college (UofW-GB and St. Norbert's) cheerleaders.
