    Very odd computer problem....

My computer has decided that I don't need to type....

When trying to type my keyboard makes this funny clicking and I have to hold each letter down for it to come up on the screen making the same clicking noise a second time....this even applies to keys like caps lock and shift....

It started when I added some software from a disk for an MP3 player....I have since removed the software and got a new keyboard to no effect....

The oddest part is that when I restart my computer and am asked for my password at the windows sign in page my keyboard doesn't do this....

Due to some problems last year with a virus I deleted some parts of my registry (at the moron from emachines direction) that make changing somethings impossible and using a restore point is out of the question....

Anyone think anything can be done or do I suffer like this until income tax time....

BTW if I'm slow answering PMs or emails you now know why

Have you gone into the Control Panel and checked the keyboard settings? I don't know why they would change but they may have.

I bought an emachines computer a while ago as a second computer.
      Got it cheap at Walmart.

I swapped out the emachines monitor with my old HP one on my main computer...
(reason, the emachines monitor is a little bigger and flat-screened)

Since then (about a year ago, I can see the monitor is already starting to go because of all the use.

I did some investigating and found emachines is not a very good computer.
A lot of people say, one of the-- if not--THE worst computers ever for quality and break-downs.

I hope you figure out your prob, Paul.
I'm over the one year mark so if mine totally goes i'm out of luck.

Sounds like a problem with the driver.

I'm coming up on the two year mark for this one....not the greatest thing in the world but it was running ok before this....

I couldn't find anything in my control panel that would solve my problem per se....but I did find an on screen keyboard that takes some of the annoyance out of typing....

How do I check the drivers???

Check the control panel under the accessibility options. Sounds like the keyboard was slowed down.

            Just my guess

              Hmmmm....

As a modern day Luddite I have NO trust or love for computers. Accordingly I back EVERYTHING up on external disk, and when my machine starts doing something weird I reformat the hard drive and reinstall everything from scratch.

              Thake THAT computer! NYAH!

I am a computer technician. This post seems to remind me something.
Not saying anything is bad or nothing. I seem to be working on a lot of Emachines lately. I don't know what the deal is.
Some people have been buying Emachines with Vista preinstalled in them with the premium version and finding out that it is not compatible with a lot of software. I have been getting a lot of calls for people who have software and want to put it on their machines and Vista is being is dick and taking over certain aspects of the computer without letting you know. You got Vista on yours? If so, I did find a solution to that problem. Offline me.

It really sounds like some kind of handicapped mode was activated. Yes, they have settings on here for blind people. I know that sounds odd but they do.

Paul, in your Control Panel / Accessibility Options, check to make sure your Filter Keys option is not checked in the Keyboard tab.
