Hey - that's the indian music at the beginning of "Ghost World". To me that's cheating:I like the follow up "The Date" better.

I think Moby's Play was the big game changer back in the nineties for how bands/musicians are cross marketed... Particularly without a marketing budget. Your best chance at mass market exposure is licensing out to commercials/tv/movies/Internet campaigns.
Particularly in an age where Commercial radio is becoming less of any kind of factor outside of the car, and even MTV has kind of abandoned music videos.
The trade off for Asteroids Galaxy Tour seems to be exposure globally and a huge budget music video they otherwise wouldn't have to promote their music.
I think heineken wins out over Cerveza because they show doing over saying.Last edited by samurainoir; Dec 2, '11, 3:28 PM.Comment

Moby's 'Play' was definitely a turning point. I think the album had mild sales for its first year, but after he licensed 9 of the songs and got lots of commercial play, sales exploded.
I remember when it was very "uncool" and major artists never let their songs be used in commercials or even on soundtracks. Distribution used to rely on labels convincing (read bribing) radio staion music directors to get their artists on playlists. Now commercials and soundtracks are the best way to reach audiences.WANTED - Solid-Boxed WGSH's, C.8 or better.Comment
