It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye--

To a great guy and dear friend, Patrice O'Neal. I'm not sure if you all are familiar with Patrice or his comedy, but I can say straight up, he was one of the funniest and coolest guys I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Of all the people I've had the good fortune to have met in the entertainment business, Patrice was one of the guys I actually talked to and hung out with on a semi-regular basis, thus giving me the opportunity to get to know the man on a level that most people do not. He was sweet, kind, gentle, and funny as all hell.

Patrice's death not only comes far too early, but for some reason is hitting me harder than most deaths do-- Maybe it's because most of my friends that are my age, that have died, weren't sick. It's always a surfing accident, shallow water blackout, car accidents, etc... Me and my knucklehead friends doing all our extreme sports nonsense. I dunno-- I'm just not in a good place with this one. I am truly sad today. If you've never heard Patrice's stuff, go on YouTube and check him out. He will make you laugh-- That's a gift he's left for everyone even though he's gone.

He was 41 years old. I'll miss you, brother.

I didn't know you knew him Sandy.

As a regular O&A listener, I am more than familiar with Patrice, sometimes he infuriated me but I will admit to finding him compelling and creative. I was really shocked to hear of his passing, it really was unexpected. The comedy world lost a unique voice that won't be replaced.

I am so sorry for your loss Sandy. Just know he is looking over you and will always be there spiritually. I feel your pain. Truly I do. Sometimes we have to walk this road of life without seeing those we wish to share it with the most. But their voices are out there letting us know the journey is still valid and they are waiting at the end of it. Hang in there bro. Your not alone.

I missed his work up until now - and this is a depressing way to find out about him. He's really good.

            I'm sorry, Sandy.

I know exactly how you feel. I lost my best friend the year after we graduated high school. He was taken in a tragic drowning accident after slipping and falling in at the Hershey Dam. I miss him every day and still dream about him regularly. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. My condolences to his family and friends.

O'Neal had a pretty good acting career, he's the arsonist on a great epsiode of "Arrested Development" and he was a semi regular on "The Office" where he publicly mentioned his own honest nature may have gotten him booted from the show.

I as some of you may know I dig Howard Stern, but it was my pleasure to met Patrice at an O&A sposored poker game in Atlantic City, I have to say he was as big as life, he really went out of his way to talk, hang and take pictures with all who were there. I understand he leaves behind a wife and daughter...... so sorry for thier loss.

                          Good night funny man!

I knew him from The Office and recognized him on Arrested Development, but I thought the diabetes jokes were kind of out of line on the Charlie Sheen roast. Now they seem particularly ruthless, although who really knew how serious it was? It's too bad he died so young. Very funny and sharp guy.
