10 years ago today George left this "Material World"...

Man, time really does fly. 10 years ago today I woke up to find out that George lost his battle with Cancer. Can't believe it's been that long already. Here's a little bit from Concert for George...one of my all-time favorite George tracks:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drCKvCL93hw
"When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
    The beauty that surrounds them
    Isn't it a pity".

    - "Isn't It A Pity"
    By George Harrison

I really miss the guy. I am starting to see lots of books about him pop. He was soooo underated. I guess it is easy to be over looked when you are sandwhiched between Lennon and McCartney.

it was a sad, sad, day when I heard the news. I was actually on my way back from inspecting claims from 09-11 in NYC.
I think he is starting to get the respect he deserves with things like Martin Scorcese's new documentary

I am still waiting for his wife to release all the unreleased tracks he must have locked up in vaults

John Lennon would have been 71 on December 8.

OOPS. He would have been 71 on October 9. He was Murdered on December 8. I was finishing the install of my new AM/FM Cassette Blaupunct car radio and the first thing I heard when I turned it on was "John Lennon was shot and killed today"

It would have been 31 years on Dec 8th...which is also mind boggling.

The radio station I listen to here in NY, 90.7 WFUV, has an old WNEW DJ by the name of Dennis Elsas. He interviewed Lennon back in 74, on my Birthday no less, and he played the "Love" version of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". It basically is the Anthology Demo that George made back in '68 with a new Orchestral Arangement by Sir George Martin and his son Giles Martin. It made it a NEW song in my opinion. Here is a You Tube video that was made by someone with the "Love" version of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" :

I really like that documentary. The bit with him cracking jokes with Eric Idle after that nutjob broke into his house is great.

There's an article somewhere that George states, and I am paraphrasing, "I have more unreleased tracks/songs than Jim Hendrix."

There's been rumors left and right of a release of the Dark Horse Tour on CD. Don't know if I am that enthused about that. George's voice was "Hammered" during that tour. What I'd love to see is an official release of one or more of the Harrison/Clapton tour of Japan on DVD. You know it was filmed.

My one regret regarding George is never buying the Genesis Books "Songs By George" when they were originally released back in the late 80's/early 90's. Back then I think they went for $500...now they just go for ridiculous money.

My wife and I saw "Love" a few years ago in Vegas. It was AMAZING! Each seat had about a dozen speakers in it, the music was actually inside you.
