But seriously...that smells like drug money...I'd be too chicken keeping it...I'd be looking over my shoulders for the rest of my life...

I'd have to turn it in to the cops... I wouldn't want to deal with the hassles that come from that much 'found' money. Like Hector said it is probably drug money and they would come looking for it. Also what you do with it would be tracked and traced by the IRS... no thank you.

As far as the moral / religious aspect, I think someone may need an exorcist. Wow, to be so bitter has got to suck.

I hold my faith firm in hand and heart, but giving the money back has nothing to do with religious beliefs and everything to do with morals. Keeping the money is theft plain and simple, and I am not a theif.

I used to teach a seminar on loss prevention. One of the statistics that I would discuss included this scenario. Basically 10% of the people are completely honest. They would absolutely turn it in. 10% of the people are completely dishonest, they could have seen who dropped it and still kept it. The other 80% are "inbetweeners" (yes, I made this word up.) Basically it's all based on risk vs reward. Most people would keep it, if they thought they wouldn't get in trouble for it or it would never have gotten back to the rightful owner.

            I totally agree.

I've seen people drop money and I've always told them about it before the thought to keep it even enters my head as an option. It's not mine.

Random money on the ground outside - like anything from $20 to $100 - when no one is around? I've kept it. I probably also tipped well that night or dropped some cash into a charity box to make me feel better. I'm probably just a sap when it comes down to it.

At the end of the day, a million dollars in $50 bills seems pretty illicit. That, and the fact that the guy worked there, he could have been traced easily - so even if I was tempted to consider keeping it I my first thought would be that it's not risk free.

i agree, to have 1 mill in 50's is fishy, to even have 1million in cash is also fishy!

Really? Never figured you for one to quote that.

I'd return it, but hold back just enough for some dijon ketchup.

I would keep it. Ebay auctions for my kids crayon drawings to whitewash it. Cash for evey in person transaction under 500 dollars for the restof my life. keep my day job. Yeah, I'd keep it. And move somewhere else.

Do what is right when no one is looking and you will always come out on top. Life has a funny way of giving you everything you need if you work hard for it.

I'd keep it and give it all away to those less forunate, people who really need it, if you really need it you would not lose it. I mean its not like somebodys dog its just money.

If it was drug money that would be maybe 1 or 2 days...

Glad to know the Bible's a lie -- I've always been suspicious of charitable, compassionate and forgiving people anyways.

                          Just didn't seem right.

Finders Keepers......Seriously if no one knew I found it, except myself, how would that cause trouble with the IRS and the cops? Right off the bat I'd buy one of those custom Batmobiles so there's a quarter of the million spent right there. Then after paying off the house and building a garage (for the Batmobile) OR buying a bigger house with an extra garage (for the Batmobile) plus trips to Disney World, Hawaii and Hollywood I think I can hide the rest under my mattress.
