Martin Scorsese's "Hugo"

Saw this yesterday with my family.

Have to say, I really like it.
Is it a family picture? More for tweens or children that are interested in the history of cinema.
Basically the movie pays homage to Georges Méliès who is well known for his movie, "A Trip to the Moon"

Very cute story and definitely Scorsese making a statement with this film about the state of the film industry.

Major eyecandy and some great acting as well.
This one movie definitely made for 3-D(Dolby) otherwise you will lose the depth of the scenes without it.

Movie is produced by Johnny Depp and post screening, when his named came up people were speculating that he must have been in the movie.
No, he wasn't. The guitarist(Django Rheinhardt) is played Emil Lager, an up and coming pretty boy actor.

I'm going to see this at some point. I was really disappointed with the script of "Shutter Island" and was worried Scorsese was just hunting for another mainstream hit when I found out his next movie was a kids movie.

But the book it's based on actually seems pretty interesting: The Invention of Hugo Cabret

So, I'm glad to hear it's not a dumbed-down movie, even if it isn't really a movie for adults.

Both by 11 and 4 YO went. The 4 yo didn't care for it other than the visuals. She did understand most of the plot and asked a handful of questions. Left no impression afterwards since she didn't bother asking more questions like she did in the past. Later in the day she forgot all about it.
My 11 yo did like it but thought it was too long. She felt it was more adult oriented with all the drama and tear jerking sentimental scenes. But she LOVED the visuals. She couldn't relate to any character and didn't feel pulled into the movie. She too didn't ask many questions afterwards like she does with movies. Didn't care about what was my favorite part. She just moved on to other things, like reading her books. LOL
